That is definitely one maniacal grin! Looks to me like he's about to start something, and someone isn't going to like it! The outfit seems like loungewear, and it looks comfy. The design of the backing of the chair (?) adds to the somewhat ominous feel, coiling and twisting. And I didn't realize Beyond has claws on his feet! Interesting! I really need to draw this guy...

I think you did perfectly fine with her reaction to Recognition. Consider a proud, somewhat arrogant, sheltered aged elf (I don't think you could say any of the Gliders were "young") suddenly Recognizing a seemingly mutant half breed elf/wolf, and that Recognition hadn't occurred in millennia in the holt...I imagine this would be a reasonable reaction. And it makes for interesting drama for the viewer!

And frankly, I would try and deny as long as I could, too. FREEDOM!
In I know you're there... - Posted May 16, 2024
Again, your shading and "quick sketches" always look so amazingly well thought out and composed! The background on this is better than anything I could do when dedicated for weeks on that alone! And I agree with Dreamcat that it looks so peaceful and serene. Almost resembles some local woodlands here. Cade's clawed hand reaching around looks very ominous, and if Marut prefers to talk things out, I suspect he's going to get hurt badly. Cade, if the rabid bear he is, would likely just tear into him without hearing a word. Would be interesting to see what happens next! Great atmospheric illo!
In Songjoy...Again - Posted May 16, 2024
No problem, I didn't think you had the same definition of a pretty boy. Our gaming group had terms and definitions that would confuse everyone else. Songjoy is a singer and musician (guitar, harp, lute, lyre, drums), also a lyricist, artist, and symbolmaker. I would say he is vulnerable, but how vulnerable would depend on how one defines it. I would say he's about as vulnerable as Redlance, give or take. In some cases, he's more, some he's less, but roughly similar to Redlance. I really need to edit his CIS and upload it to this site!
In Little Patch - Posted May 16, 2024
There were so few humans that I remotely cared about or liked, and Little Patch was one of them. Either way, MenderFanForest, I think the changes you made really help with the final image. What do you think? And I would love to see what you can create with a ceremonial or festive outfit. No reason to ignore Mender, however, just keep the illos coming!

Yes, drawing and coloring with a mouse is as useful as a bicycle for a fish.

Oh, no! Not a pretty boy! My gaming group used that as an unflattering term for completely useless morons.

I keep hearing about the series but know absolutely nothing as well. Either way, this looks like the trio are having fun, taking a break from their adventures, maybe exchanging tales. Laluna looks a bit mischievous, but more that she seems quite happy with whatever is occurring. Or maybe she's about to playfully smack Ungarion with that plate (?).Your sketches always seem to have such "personality" even if quick.
In Little Patch - Posted May 15, 2024
Oh, wow! Fanart of Little Patch! I always thought he was an interesting character and was sad when he died. I think you did a really good job with him, certainly better than I would have. This is making me need to return to his story and read it again. I think there are two things that would improve it, however, albeit nitpicking points. At his hairline, soften that hard line and break it up a bit. That hard a line almost makes it look more like a wig than natural hair. Play around with it and see what you think. The other is the neck closest to the viewer should curve a bit into the body/shoulder to give it more depth; more curve if his shoulder is naturally positioned, less curve if he's tensed a bit and has it raised. Again, if you have the time and inclination, give it a try and see if you think it improves the image. No, I don't recall he had a vast wardrobe, but some people are quite happy with limited attire. If you should revisit the character, you can always slap him into a ceremonial outfit that we the audience never saw! Why not?
In Preparing to Perform - Posted May 14, 2024
Nothing wrong with The Doors, although they're not very high on my love that band list. And I swear Songjoy is by no means based on Jim Morrison! If I were to base an elf on a Doors band member, I think I'd go for Ray Manzarek first. Hm. Not sure. And Songjoy rarely runs around shirtless. I just wanted him shirtless in this illo. Mwahahaha!
In C/C At the Hotsprings 2 colored - Posted May 13, 2024
Have to admit, it's a very sexy, sensual image. You can just feel what they are. The coloring, shading, and composition are just wonderful, and I can't believe I haven't commented on this before! I think Rayek's eyes seems a little more rounded in this, but with the emotion going on, I think maybe that helps him seem even more expressive than usual. For some reason, I really like the expression on Crescent's face. I think I'm not alone when I say I wish she had survived and maybe at least some of this had been canon.
In Hey, Mom! Look what I found! Can we keep it? - Posted May 13, 2024
Let's hope Songjoy learns the lesson.
In Come on, talk to me - 2017 - Posted May 13, 2024
Why do I not remember this illo at all?! Poor Miriel, can't help but wonder what is bothering her to be so sullen. And Mardu seems so genuinely concerned, wanting to cheer her up. Plus, we just don't get to see much fan art for Mardu, either. Or a lot of GoBack interior images!
In Preparing to Perform - Posted May 13, 2024
Yeah, his hair is very thick, especially at the scalp. He's usually smiling, thought I'd given him a slight smile, but everyone can make their own interpretation of his expression. Maybe something's not right with the music; can't be that he's being observed, he's not shy! Jim Morrison? I suppose, never would've made that connection. Maybe it's the just the hair!
In Yet Another Mender pic - Posted May 13, 2024
This illo has more detail in the shading and overall coloration, and I also like that you've added a background. I really should do the same, just too lazy.
In Mender Healing spell - Posted May 13, 2024
Of the recent trio of illos you've done of him, I like this one the best because he's not just looking sexy, he's being sexy. Very dynamic. You can tell he's really enjoying the healing ability being put to use. Usually, he's shown with a faint yellowish glow to depict magic being used, but who cares? It's your interpretation, and maybe this is a new ability he's testing out (something involving healing but something he's never done before).
In Zarhan Fastfire - Posted May 12, 2024
I thought I had posted to this, silly me. This is the best interpretation of Zarhan I've seen. The canon art from the comics never appealed to me. In fact, I couldn't figure out WHAT he was. He just looked really weird and unflattering for any species, something akin to a cross between Bozo the Clown and a troll doll. This looks amazing, even sexy, but still very mysterious and quite the enigma. That's how he was supposed to be, from what I read. Amazing job! Miss your work here!
In Phyn of the DeepDwellers - Posted May 11, 2024
How is it you can manage High One proportions and make it look so effortless? He's a handsome sea elf, and I love you have given him a deep sea blue to his skin that, again, look so effortless and realistic. The accent colors really work as well, and can you imagine him and Terra having cubs (pips?) with that green hair? Great work, as Icemoon said, as always! Wish I had joined World of Danen when it was active...sigh...
In I know these mushrooms - Posted May 11, 2024
This is such a sweet, sad, and very touching scene. I love the emotion and overall feel to this. It's something most of us can relate to, the loss of someone dear that still seems to be with us no matter where we are. I agree with the framing of the trees to the image. It's also great to see more Rain. He seemed such a great character that didn't get much of a chance to spend time in the spotlight. We also need to see more Bert.  Where are you, my friend?!
In Mermay2020 6Ortega bunt - Posted May 11, 2024
Mom must be proud; he's a handsome guy! Love the use of the paper, and it really helps with the overall theme and mood of the illo.
In Preparing to Perform - Posted May 11, 2024
I think I actually prefer the long side swept bangs best; very sexy, in my opinion.
