In Storyteller by Christoph Schilling - Posted Dec 31, 2023
Christoph, you always have such an amazing skill with light and highlights that really bring your art to such life! I love the mood and atmosphere in this one, so warm and inviting. I can just hear the amazing tale told by Nonna. Enjoy the kids in this as well. They don't get much attention, but they nearly steal the show in this. Great work as aways!

I'll comment on the month, but I thought I'd drop in and say this has made my lousy last day of the year. I had to work nearly 11 hours all alone at work, then drive back to my mother's (took two hours). I have been really looking forward to this calendar, and you've done it again. I really am impressed with all the effort and skill that has gone into this and am proud to have been a part of it. Thank you again so much for keeping this going and letting us play along! This has made my night! Happy New Year everyone!

Well, you know me and hair. I had some issue trying to figure out this guy's coloring because every time he's depicted, he looks different. I ultimately went with the one image where Surge rushes past him; he was full bodied and had interesting details, like the...well...mutant waist sporrran. I couldn't tell if he had scales or not, so I tried to make them faint. This took a lot of time, but I actually enjoyed it. Will do my best to return for 2025! Thanks for all your hard work!
In Nilla's Rain colored by me - 2017 - Posted Dec 17, 2023
Damn! That really came to full, brilliant life with your color work! Nilla did such a great job on the black and white, and this rare time I'm deeply mesmerized by the colors! Amazing collaboration, you two!
In Reach of Love by Berit Jurda - Posted Dec 17, 2023
Wait, I didn't comment on this one yet?! REALLY?! I absolutely love this! I can easily relate. My family and close friends know gifts that make me really happy are fully functional bladed shiny things. For my birthday this year, my brother saw me ogling a gorgeously made, scalpel sharp Russian blade...okay, fondling it...that he told me not to purchase it. So, that's what he got me for my birthday. I love the expression here and again, I can so relate. It makes me want to rush out and get another new longsword. That and I just watched a video of European Medieval longsword versus katana. Loved it! Damn, I need another sword.

And where are you, Berit? WE MISS YOU! Oh, and I've moved. Again. Lots to tell you when you're back.
In Redlance paired with Nightfall - Posted Dec 17, 2023
I was never really fond of Redlance's face fur, but you really captured that gentle, sweet, loving/lovely personality of him so perfectly! He was always one of my favorites and you did him justice!

Oh, I have decor that would scare the neighbors in my very religious area. I have tons of statues of Egyptian gods, everything from just a few inches to three feet tall, a fully functional lifesize replica of King Tut's throne, a lovely tapestry of Anubis behind my headboard for my bed in front of the scales while holding a heart and a feather, posters of the gods, I could go on and on. My brother even got me a lovely functional replica Egyptian khopesh (the curved sword). I collect bladed weapons and recurve bows as well. I embrace my weirdness!
In ‘Pyre, Pyre, his friend was fire…' - Posted Dec 17, 2023
Ah-ha! I did not reply to this, how rude! I like the color version of this, but the black and white is a little more interesting to me because of the heavy shading. I don't mind that there aren't purple highlights in the hair because Merheen is a shadow shaper, and it just seems he would be happier or retain the darkness around him. Makes sense. The atmosphere in this is really effective and moody. And was there a story behind this or just drawn from an idea that popped into your head? Love it!
In wip Pyre vs Merheen - Posted Dec 17, 2023
Very interesting and dynamic. I may have commented on the color version, but is there a story behind this or just the drawing that came to mind? I really need to draw more OCs, and this is inspiring me!

Love the colorwork on this lovely lady, especially the variation on the tail. She looks focused on something, or maybe just lost in thought. I can easily see this featured in book as a watercolor print. Beautiful!
In Mermay2023 17Emotion - Posted Dec 17, 2023
Okay, the expressions are the focus of this one! Very hilarious and well done. Don't know what's pissed off Meduse, but she sure is mad about something! The bubbles near her almost seem to form an exclamation point to really drive home the point. Great angry face! The poor deep sea critter...I feel I should know what it is, but I am about to crash and my brain hurts at the moment. Either way, gotta feel sorry for it, and you achieved the sad expression with confusion perfectly. Love the long "eyelashes" over the glowing red eyes.
In Mermay23 10Celestial - Posted Dec 17, 2023
This is a lot of fun, and I enjoyed seeing the star patterns from the perspective of the Merelves.  Of course there would be snail, lobster antennae, and the dreaded Portuguese man-o-war. I like how Meduse is drawn here, great angle that's hard to successfully achieve, but also so fun and endearing. Okay, she may be up to no good, but for the moment, she's merely lost in thought. And all these illos! I don't think I could've managed so many illos that look so amazing in so short of time. Excellent job!

Hilarious! It's the lifting of the carpet of land that gets me and the draining of the waters beneath. I can't help but be reminded of "instant hole" from one of Wile E Coyote's numerous inventions. Or purchased items from his beloved Acme. Darn that snail! If Silver should ever find out...! Love Silver's expression...and that land carpet!

She seems quite pleased with her tree, and I love the ornaments have the faces of her holtmates. I like her overall look in this one, maybe it's the shades of blue that look so flattering on her. Or she just looks so contact and somehow elegant. This has a wonderfully comforting and relaxing feel to it. Maybe I should actually decorate my house this year for Yule. Haven't done that in a while. But at least I don't have to fight my bosses to take time off to be with my family this year.
In mermay23 12Compahion - Posted Dec 17, 2023
I hope she loves it, I would! They are such a lovely couple, and he seems so gentle and loving toward her. If correct, he's certainly a keeper! I like that his features are less conventionally attractive, but to me, that makes him more appealing.
In Mermay23 11Villain - Posted Dec 17, 2023
From what I've seen, I can understand the revenge. Amazing use of color and lighting to really drive home that power she's building up to unleash. She reminds me of a really pissed off Bill Cipher (my all time favorite villain). Great pose, very effective and strong. Shows just how damn serious she is and how you need to get your sorry ass out of her way.

Great use of the grey paper instead of the usual stark white. Really seems to set the mood. And no, they shouldn't be anorexic to be beautiful! Yeah, seems sadly humans and elves can suffer from the same prejudices and cruelty. Sigh. Anyway, I also love the almost lithograph style or quality to this, the strong, stylized white lines to offset the grey and black. Honestly, Meduse, find yourself someone that loves and appreciates you as you are, stop wasting time with those that can't or won't! Yeah, I know you're a Sea Witch, but maybe a mate like that is what you need.
In Mermay23 16CelebrityOrcamerSweetHavenColony - Posted Dec 17, 2023
Quite a mix of media here. I like that you are braver than I am with that. Anyway, The Orcamermaids are lovely and it looks like quite the party is about to begin. Esha looks a bit more Disney than your usual style, but I think it's the broad smile on her face that draws my eye to her. She looks so pleased with her task and the results. Jayanna seems happy to see Meduse, does she know about her kept boys? She's also a lovely lady here. Meduse looks very satisfied with her plans and her new pet, but after trying to nab this one and his abuse of her, I suppose I can understand. Jeevan does look like a Doll generation, but you incorporated him well. The background looks really neat, love the contrast of cool blues and bright red/orange/yellow. Nice work!
In Thoughtful Winnowill - Posted Dec 17, 2023
Love the "in between " phase you've chosen for her in this. She looks young but definitely giving in to her darkness. Very sensual, and I agree that her curving her body mimicking the snake is very appealing. Great coloring in this as well, those wonderful dark tones with the bright coldness of her skin. And that classic Winnowill smirk!
In MermayJune2023 - Posted Dec 17, 2023
Of course I'm an admirer of that lovely hair, but I also like that he's so pale that he's a bluish-white, something I couldn't do well. I would make it look like his skin is about to slough off from decay. Sigh. Anyway, lovely lad, and just because he like to exaggerate his appearance, doesn't make him unusual, right? You do you, Koiboy!
