Wow! How did I miss this?! This is amazing, so much work went into drawing and inking this! I love how each character weaves into the others for such a coherent, eye catching illo; so much to see every time one looks at it.  Moonlight looks so enthusiastic, but I rarely see Yeee looking troubled. Haken has a valid question in the physics of being underwater with drinks, but keep at it, Haken, you'll figure it out. Embala and - is it Longfin? - look so sweet and entangled in each other. Love the idea of using angler fish as decorations for this strange object everyone seems excited about, and love the inclusion of Sebastion getting chased by them. Does the harpy have a name? Poor Rayek, he does seem to get abused in the fandom, doesn't he? Absolutely fantastic illo!
In Rayek - Posted Mar 01, 2024
Heh, heh, just wait 'til JaRf sees this!
In Rayek - Posted Feb 28, 2024
Oh, very beautifully done! His left arm/hand seem a little off, but who the hell cares? Maybe his "snapshot" was taken at a slightly awkward moment in the midst of a reaction. Rayek never really did much for me, but this illo really captures the best and worst of who and what he was. If I wasn't familiar with the character and his story/journey, I would be very intrigued merely by this image and do a serious deep dive into his tale. You really portray his features perfectly, the high sharp cheekbones and equally sharp pointed chin. The skin tone is stunning and his eyes simply glow. Love the addition of Venka's beaded headband decoration and the amazing snake coiled around his neck. Great detailing and shading! The polearm is wonderful, too; I want it! Can't compliment this enough without sounding like I'm being paid for it. This is gorgeous and I can't wait to see what's next from you!

Ah, Yif and his mighty sword! Love this; can't believe I haven't seen or commented on this before! Really wonderfully done, and I absolutely love his mighty sword! It almost looks like he's offering it to me, and it's so amazingly shiny and sharp. So warm and inviting, and he looks so very pleased with himself.

I see there is another Gary Larson Farside lover among us! Where's the Irish Setter? This is hilarious, and that last one is too perfect! The monochromatic scheme just adds to it.
In Ready to Perform - Posted Jan 28, 2024
Almost forgot: picked up my colored pencils. Color versions to follow!
In Modern(ish) Ember - Posted Jan 28, 2024
I too love the white/light blue lines against the black background! Of course, the full color version is amazing against the black background. How would you modernize Sunstream?
In Modern(ish) Ember 2 - Posted Jan 28, 2024
The undercut has come under a lot of scrutiny, much like the 80's mullet. Still, I actually prefer Ember's cub outfit to her current grey-blue tunic; it gives her a more modern look right there. Honestly, I really enjoyed Ember as a cub/youth, but she's matured into an almost generic leader. I wish she had retained more of her independent/fun-loving personality. Am I alone in this?
In Korafay and Reef - Posted Jan 28, 2024
I think these two are a great couple, and hope they manage to remain that way. There is a sense of playfulness in their interaction and you can't help but smile along with them. Korafay is hovering and being her usual teasing self, and Reef is moving more and more out of his depression and fear. The colors in this just add to the overall atmosphere you've created. Nicely done!
In Venka and Tyleet - Posted Jan 28, 2024
I also think seeing these two more as cubs in the Wolfriders would be great. You have a sense of their relationship from the original comics, but it's still lacking in detail. This definitely helps fill in a few gaps, although a night scene would be even better.
In Embracing the Future by Amberfox - Posted Jan 28, 2024
The idea just suddenly struck me, but thank you all for your kind words. I actually worked on this off and on at work; the lighting is best there. Now to get busy with the 2025 calendar!
In Cutter's Dream - Posted Jan 28, 2024
Very moody and atmospheric, love the idea of only seeing Cutter's footprints. Makes one consider all the possibilities as to why. Perhaps Leetah had been waiting for him all along and he has just now run to her. Personally, I find this more satisfying than the original, "Hey, Leetah, back from a thousand turns of travel...can you do to me what you did to Skywise?" sort of situation. I should work on my "hugging" as well.
In Ready to Perform - Posted Jan 28, 2024
Well, thank you both. Like all performers, Songjoy is usually very confident; after all, he has spent a lifetime working on his craft that really requires an audience. Too shy? Try a different profession. Still, like the best, there are undoubtably times he has his doubts and/or is not feeling up to his best. Overall, he loves what he does and eagerly anticipates his next performance. Still working on the jam session with Amberfox...even have an idea of these two with their "bandmates" jamming. Thanks for generating even more work for me, Treefox!
In Mermay2022 17 Emotional,  elf pips - Posted Jan 20, 2024
Wow! The most difficult type of character to draw, and you did two of them - NEWBORNS! They are so believably well drawn! Sharuk looks both proud and very menacingly defending of his pips, a sort of "Admire, don't touch...or die" type of expression. The colors are amazing in this, and I assume the colors in the background are from the drafting paper? Works perfectly for this. Great job!
In Songjoy - Posted Jan 18, 2024
As soon as I recover all my good color pencils from my mother's house. I swear I need a holiday/vacation after a holiday/vacation.
In Songjoy - Posted Jan 16, 2024
I'm still working on the other two illos of him. And now with the idea of a jamming session with Amberfox...
In Cub Songjoy - Posted Jan 16, 2024
Oh, shit...you know I have to draw that now...
In Leetah - Posted Jan 16, 2024
That would be telling...! Honestly, no idea. Maybe it's someone that knows and doesn't like me. Never can tell nowadays.
In Leetah - Posted Jan 16, 2024
Hmmm...maybe I'm banned from seeing it.
In Cub Songjoy - Posted Jan 16, 2024
Seriously, I would pay for that. Amberfox with his deep voice (baritone-near bass) and Songjoy with his alto-tenor/countertenor voice (high pitched for an adult male), Amberfox with his somewhat cynical lyrics with a humorous spin and Songjoy's mystic, fanciful lyrics...I demand a front row seat!
