Wildfire comparison
by Wildfire
Okay, this is definitely not my first Elfquest picture, but I wanted to redo it 8D Plus, it was one of my first digital drawings so it was kind of the start of a new era for me.
So... Yeah.. The 2009 version kind of hurts my eyes xD I was SO PROUD of it, it was ridiculous. I actually printed it on my parents' printer and hung it on the wall
Anyway, since then I switched from GIMP to Photoshop, from a Wacom Volito2 to an Intuos3 and actually got a sense of colour and anatomy. And to think it's only been two and a half year
I don't really know what I was trying to do with the pose in the first one... I assume that I just didn't want to draw her hands, so I changed it a bit so that it wouldn't look quite so unnatural

The new version looks far more dangerous than the first. i think it is the eyes that does it, they look clear and sharp. With the mischievous smile of someone up to no good, and the hiding of arms, she looks about to use her powers. I love her skin.

Heh, yeah I did decide to go for an expression Wildfire would wear instead of the smile on the first one. Dangerous is definitely more Wildfire-y Thank you <3

Yeah, this rocks! I think it's so cool that you posted it so the world can see your remarkable progress over this very short period of time! The new version is awesome. Bold, dangerous self-confident!
C/C for the new version: the cloth could fall a bit differently, more heavily. I think that would even add more. But then it does look more like stylish clothes and it's definitely cool! |

Thank you I do find the 2009 one kind of embarrassing, mostly because I was so proud of it. But I figured I'd show it and then people could have a laugh with me xD
Hmm, yes, you're right about the clothes. Damn those folds *shakes fist* |

Ok, this is a pretty spectacular amount of progress being shown. You should be mega-proud of yourself.

Joselle, thank you
Startear, I got the texture from Meisan on DA http://meisan.deviantart.com/ She's got a couple of packs with watercolour texture that are totally awesome! |

This looks so great! Looks like you've taught yourself a lot in such a short time. I think there isn't anything left that you forgot to improve.

Ahh, I still need to work on lighting and clothes. I've kind of neglected those two in favour of other things xD But thank you!

They may still need work, but they DID improve, that was my point. Always keep learning new things, it's what keeps your work fresh!

You know, although obviously you have improved immensely since the older picture, the older picture is not bad. To me it shows that you had already had some lessons and had already made some progress and were not a hundred percent complete beginner at that time. It is simple and pretty. It is definitely not ridiculous.
