This is a picture of when Goodtree found her place in the tribe as a plant-shaper and at one of her key moments, as she was forming and shaping and giving birth to the Father Tree.

Thank you - I actually think it's rather hideous.

That watercolor paper had SOOOO much tooth it literally ate so much of my pencils and inks and paints - it didn't blend smoothly at *all* and I think it looked a lot more like Goodtree in the sketches than after all the weird stuff that happened to this one. It's not my best at all - I mean I slammed it out in what, a week or two?  - cuz i didn't find out about it until then lol.

Those leaves drove me crazy. Then I found out it had to be LANDSCAPE!! ACK! So I figured well if text has  to be on it ... let me resize it so the height fits and I'll just fill in the other side with more leaves and make the background sort of bland since it would have had text all over it. LOL.

So it's a weird blend of traditional and digital work, since most of the right hand had digital aid. I think I faked it pretty good though. LOL

I can't tell that this is a mix of traditional and digital work, i think you edited the picture very well! I love it! Leaves and the tree are so beautiful and realistic, it must have been a very hard work! Goodtree seems very small comparing to those trees, yet she is so powerful! I love the way you drew her magic.

The detailing on the tree and the leaves is amazing. Beautiful job.

Actually, I think the textured paper was an asset for the leaves and tree trunk.  There is a beautiful depth and tactile quality there.  Really hard to do detail, though, with so much tooth.

I am sad this was too late to judge.  After judging, Joselle went AWOL with her professional work and Richard was busy with the new website, so we couldn't re-judge.

I hope you participate next year, though!  Your work has a different, more fanciful feel to it that I think would add a nice variety.

As I commented before: it's a lovely piece. Goodtree looks like I like her to look. More High-One-ish than the usual Wolfrider and she also has the cool leafy-thing on!

I love the composition of the original core piece -- love the "peeking through the leaves" sense that it gives, and the leaves are just totally WOW.  I also love how you've done Goodtree -- she's the most magical of the chiefs, and here she reminds me the most of the High Ones, like her foremother Timmain (including her fashion sense! ;-) ).

Talk about perfect for Tarot cards, Faerydae! This is very beautiful! It must have taken you a long time to do all the veining in the leaves and the texture in the tree. I also love the idea of the viewer peering into the scene from a slight distance, between the leaves and branches. Of course, many of us feel our sketches were so much better than the final product, but trust us - Goodtree looks amazing!
