Species: Into the Darkness

It has been said my work has symbolism to it.  Well, this is almost exclusively symbolic.

Bear with my silliness. Another in my "a while back at work, I had the bizarre thought of what an elf would look like when based on some of the microbes I work with." Here is Stachybotrys atra and Ochroconis gallopava. I admit I have a fondness for these two critters. Stachybotris is black mold that latches anywhere there's darkness and moisture around any wooden surfaces, hence the browns and being pale in the deep forest. It can often develop a shiny silver sheen (hair) and be toxic if it gets into a host, causing anything from infection to brain damage. It stains blue-green (eyes) with some stains. My fondness is because I learned it researching on my own and won an argument with my trainer (see Sandy) that it does in fact cause disease/death in humans. Ochroconis is a thick growing sleek black with a bright diffusing red pigment in agar from toxins (hair). It infects mostly birds (hence feathers) but can cause disease/death in humans much like Stachy. I saw this for the first time at work and hit books and the internet to ID it, got it right! Even though my trainer refused to give me credit, I was proud I managed to ID it on my own and possibly save a life.

Ran out of room. Also did this a year or two ago, just now finished it. The blue in Stachy's jewelry is from the stains used to ID it/him. The weapons are because these two can be very lethal if encountered. I will likely eventually do this one again at some point. There are so many issues with it, but I worked so hard on it, I'm posting it!

Hell yeah you're posting it!! I love it! And congratulations on identifying the foe! You have every reason to be very very proud!
"Stachy" and "Ochy" are soooo fascinating! But also terrifying. The way you incorporated the elements into the characters is just wonderful.
Thank you for the background information as well.
Really love to be able to loose myself in the details of your art again.
