I felt like it was time to update Wintergreen because I've changed so much after four years.
So here is my updated elf selfie.
Any suggestions on why her hair changed colour?

Oh, that hairstyle is so cool! Love it! Great combo with those green hues of her eyes and clothes!
My guess as to why the change of hair color: you changed your hair color? She moved to the desert or any other longtime sunlight exposure? |

There are a variety of ways to "bleach" hair. It has been done since ancient times. The Vikings would use lye or a lye solution to produce blonde, Greeks often used wood ash with vinegar or goat tallow, Romans used wood ash (wood ash is similar to the lye method since it created lye in the process), Medieval Europe would use a weird concoction of honey, white wine, calendine root, olive madder, cumin seed oil, saffron, and box shavings that was left on the scalp/hair for two days (honey and white wine were 48 hours, the rest 24). Then there's the omnipresent hydrogen peroxide/ammonia. Elves may have something unique to them that color can radically change as opposed to humans (although I was born with black hair, it fell out, grew in almost platinum, added lots of blonde, red, and light browns over my life). So, as your character, you can decide whatever you like - don't let anyone tell you differently.

 not a nice thought to leave such goo on my head for 48 friggin hours!But whaaat ? Your hair turned from black to blond?? That is so fascinating! My hair was always blond and just keeps getting darker (and more gray) as I grow older. Such a dramatic change is amazing! |

Technically, my hair didn't TURN blonde from being black, it fell out as an infant and grew back in very white-blonde. It's fun, since no one seems to be able to make sense of it. Right now my hair is a mix of shades of blonde, reds, and light browns.

Heh! Mine was the opposite: I was blonde as a kid, then it turned slowly dark brown over the years. Now it's turning gray, strand by strand.
Hmm, maybe for elves the hair could change after a great shock or a bolt of lightning if you want something dramatic.

There are cases of people whose hair has radically gone white or very pale after major stress and in some cases, just because, and even overnight. Most people are born with light hair and it darkens over their lives.

She is a Metamorphmagus.
Her hair change color in Winter. It resembles her elfname winter-green better. Ehh. no idea why you changed her hair color. Will you tell us? But, I do like it with the green a lot. Suits her! Nice color choice. I love the deep green tones, looks smouth and lush. And a fancy top she has. Love it! Has her earring the metallwork of a spider's web? That's cool! Adorable nose

I love her look, it's really spunky.
You know, when I lived in Greece, we believed that bleaching your hair protected your hair against lice. No idea if it was true, this was at the end of the 90's and early 2000's, so it could be true, or just a fashion thing, and "lice" was a convenient excuse used to justify it. I also had blonde hair as a kid, and it was traight. In weak moments I miss my straight hair... it was so easy to handle. |

I changed her hair because I changed mine.
In-universe I could go with sun-bleach or something, she is a scout after all. As I find it hard to believe elves would have or use hair dyes. Or then it's just magic. |

She is beautiful! Does she have any mischievous, or bumbling friends? Someone by design or accident could have mixed something wrong into the hair cleaner.
Side note: Can a healer, who can grow hair, also change it in other ways? |

Tah-Marien, I was thinking the same. Considering healers like Winnowill and Leetah can change the appearance of the whole body, I can't see why they wouldn't be able to change the colour of someone's hair.
