Fast picture of Shenshen I did when I was testing these new markers I found! she is too pale here, but brown markers are always limited in kids markers! (always too orange or way too dark to color sunfolk skin) so I’m lucky I found this shade at least!…

Anyway, I probably should stop hogging the front page for now, but I'm inspired! I apologize truly! I'm going to take a little break just that people can get a breather!..

Oh, very sweet again! Who knew that such a dress color would look good on her? Those markers make for some very nice colors!

I just wonder why I always make her looks somewhat drunk! at least here it's not as bad as usually! yeah, this set has two brown colors! it's rare! usually sets have only one... and that one is something unfit for skin color, wood, soil or... anything... that strange reddish-orange brown... so this is pretty nice set... and was free too! again, found it as I was roaming around... people throw away usable stuff, it's weird...

Maybe it's the full, wide lips that make her look a bit drunk? Then again, I think Shenshen took quite well to dreamberry wine and other tasty goodies, so her actually being drunk seems likely. Leaving the little white patches ragged rather than sharply defined edges really gives a sense of highlights and light/shadow play on her skin and hair. Gives it more depth as opposed to being a flat sketch. You clearly pay attention to such details despite "quick sketches." Placing color on her dress where there would be shadowing works perfectly instead of coloring the entire dress. And finding ANY medium that works great as a skin tone is really very hard, especially with traditional media. I have to go through my new sets of pencils/pens/markers/paint to see if I can find something decent. The few browns and tans I have used over the years are down to millimeters.

Thanks! well, I've probably just drawn so much that some of shadows and light comes naturally, without me thinking about it... I always was, and still am a drawing factory... the end result may not be the greatest and most finished thing people see, but I draw all the darn time!... if I had all my tools taken and had nothing else, I'd probably do things with my own blood... I can't help it!... and the color thing, it really SUCKS not having skin color! I honestly cannot understand people who make art tools and tons of color... but no skin colors!... it just pisses me off!...

That's really weird, isn't it? You can make and get so many shades of markers and stuff, but when it comes to skin color of basically any hue, it's almost impossible! The only exception being for me my beloved copic markers finally I have come across some decent skin tones! But then again, they are expensive as hell...

I remember being angry at not finding right skin color even as a kid!... even to day I tend to mix and match ballpoint pens to get right tones, little bit of orange, little bit of pink and a little pit of brown and I get "white" skin... though in Marut's case I ditch the pink to get his "milk tea" colored skin... but dark skin... whew! that is always a problem I have with colors!... well, I'll just use anything I can, from dark coffee to different ink... (or mixtures of coffee/tea and ink)...

Nice idea to use coffee. And it's natural!
