In the tradition of Mirror and her stunning art, "Our Tribe," I was inspired to do similar. Initially, I was going to group them as Mirror has, but then I got lazy trying to get everyone organized (especially since some do not have heights listed) and complicated because I kept the individual illos large. I also wanted to draw characters that haven't had a lot of time in the spotlight, for the most part. As always, the scanner just doesn't do the colors justice, but at least you can get an idea of what I was going for. I already have about a dozen characters drawn, but I intend to color them all instead of inking them. Takes longer, but I just felt like trying to do it. I hope I've done everyone justice, but if I haven't, let me know and I'll make the corrections. And if anyone would really like to see what I can do with their character(s), contact me. This one took me twice as long as the others. Why? The hair! My hand started cramping coloring each curl with five different colors. Naturally, I'm disappointed with the way it turned out online, but that's because the computer/scanner can't pick up the light applications I use for pale shading. And the yellow was really eaten up. Ah well. the original is a stunner, I promise. Anyway, Changestone inspecting new rock strata that she's never seen before, so she's "feeling" its mineral sources and composition.

Perhaps you could try taking a photograph in stead?
I can still see a lot of the subtle shading though. Especially the gradient on her clothing looks so soft.

I've considered it after Czarine first suggested it, but I don't know if my camera would be better at picking up the subtle shading. I suppose maybe I need to just stop making excuses and just try it. The clothing scanned pretty well, it's the skin tone that failed miserably. And the pink on her cheeks is oddly the reverse: it's very subtle on original, but I suppose the scanner LOVES red tones. It seems to hate yellow, since there's a little more yellow in her top and lots more in the rock that just didn't register.

Could always try one, and compare it to a scan, see what picks up better. Is there no way to alter any settings while scanning? That always helps me so!

She is a marvelous beauty! Gosh that hair and outfit. Even the colors may not be a subtle as the original drawing, I think you absolutely did Tah-Marien's character justice. My, what a beauty!

Yeah, I get what you mean about skin colors. Most of the reason why I began using markers was just that, no matter how hard I pressed, how many layers or how much I tweaked it in photoshop,  my scanner just did not pick it up.

That hair is so gorgeous! And again, I like the soft coloring on the rocks

WOW . . oh wow!  Thank you so much @AMBERFOX.  She looks wonderful.  You got the hair color right with only 5 colors - I am jealous - it takes me 7.  The Raggedy Ann red is very hard.  Since you scan these I am wondering if you have an Original - meaning you did this on real paper with color pencils and such ?  I too have trouble getting a scan to look good of my Traditional colors.  {What May I trade for the original?} Name IT!

But here - Aah - the effect looks soft and touchable; especially her leathers.  I do have to say I am honored.  *bows*  And a little tickled that the Queen of hair got a cramp from MY character *snicker* What fun!

I Love that you chose the loose hairstyle.  The scantly done costume is very sexy - so thanx for that too. Repeating the color of her eyes in the rock really connects her somehow to the mass, and reminds us she is a Rockshaper after all.  So WOW!   Thank you. What a very nice surprise.

The short answer is YES, I always keep or have a good copy of my original work. First and foremost, I am very happy that you like it. I have had people in the past not like how I've represented their characters, so I am always relieved when someone is pleased with what I've done. Changestone was just one of those characters begging to be drawn, so how could I resist? I actually had printed out a copy of one of the illos you did some time ago that had her with three different hair styles, and I just think this one is the best. Don't know why, I just like it the most, so if you had her with it, I thought it would be okay for me to draw her that way. Her outfit was also one of the various styles you had depicted her in, so again, why not? Either way, I really am glad you like it. If you want the original color illo, let me think on an exchange. I'll send you a personal message.
