Please post here and let me know if you have any questions about how to use the forum, or whether certain kinds of art or OK or not, or really anything you are confused about.
To answer one question that was already asked in PMs:
Yes, you can post original characters from the World of Two Moons. :) That counts as elfquest fanart. But if it's elves from a world of your own, or from, say, Lord of the Rings or World of Warcraft, that would be off-topic.
-
Thank you for adding this!
Ok i've got another question.
I figured out how to make a user gallery...but i'm stumped on how to add pictures to said gallery. help?
-
Once you've created the gallery, you need to first click on the gallery itself to open it.
Once you are in the gallery you should see an "Add an item to this gallery" link.
If you can't find it, let me know and I'll make a set of screenshots and create a stick post in the Guides section.
-
Thank you so much!
-
Hey, in the Writer's Gallery, is it alright to put stories (particularly long stories) in their own threads? For example, one thread would be Story ONE and all it's chapters while another thread would be Story TWO and all it's chapters while an additional thread would be Author's thread with all the little ficlets and poems therein?
-
I figure people can structure their stories however works for them, but I know if it were me I'd do it like you describe. :)
-
Thank you, ma'am! ;D
-
I'm a bit confused on how to make various galleries under your gallery. I *think* I did it correctly, but then again I'm guessing you can't move a piece of art from one to the other? And you can't delete a gallery you have?
I can never figure out the simple things ^^;;;
Edit - also do you have to make icon size pics so your gallery has those?
-
You don't need to make icon pics, fortunately...you can just use any sized picture, and it will resize it for you. Or you can use the checkbox at the bottom of a submission that tells it that you want it to use that image as the icon.
And it is correct that you can't delete a gallery, but you can always PM me and ask me to delete one. :) Hopefully a future version of the gallery software will allow for this.
Unfortunately not even I can move images, so your only option is to re-submit an image to a new gallery, and deleting the old copy.
-
Coolness. Thank you!
I have it figured out and am working on it. I'll remember to PM you with things like deleting galleries. I always hate to be a bother though ^^;;
Thank you once again!
-
Hi, Foxeye! I just wanted to let everyone know that the maximum character length of posts is 20,000, so you might have to break up a longer story into a couple of parts in the Writer's Gallery. ;D
-
Would it be possible to get comment notifications for the gallery? In the Writer's Gallery that is easy since you just need the reply notification but in the gallery it seems you can only see new comments by checking your gallery manually ??? (or am I being daft again and only didn't find it?).
-
I have kind of a similar question: I noticed when logging in today that little "new" icons appear next to pieces of art that have been "updated" in some way, such as by receiving comments since you last viewed them. That's a very helpful feature!
What I'm wondering is whether it's possible to get the top-level User Galleries to have that "new" icon appear next to their title if new art has been added to them since the last time you logged in.
Especially in these early days, when folks are uploading a LOT, and therefore stuff gets pushed off the front "new" page pretty quickly, it'd be really helpful at the User Galleries level to know whether there's new art you haven't seen in some users' folders.
-
Second question. :)
Would it be a good idea to create a section (like there is at the SoC) just for fan holts to create threads for advertising purposes? (Whit posted a RTH thread here under "General Discussion", but I can imagine going forward that it would be more efficient in a lot of ways for holt advertising threads to go in their own dedicated section?)
-
I'd appreciate if such a "Top-level"- new icon, how sgaana suggested as well *nod* That would be very helpful :)
And I'm totally backing the idea of a fan hold section, too.
Another question. Maybe I'm just a bit dense, but as I clicked through the galary it told me that I can't look at some pictures. How can I change that?
-
That's three requests now for a Holts section. Hmmm! I prefer "leaner" boards (rather than lots of categories), but ... now that I think about it, I can see how someone looking for a holt wouldn't want to have to search through non-holt posts to see all the possibilities.
Fair 'nuff...I'll add it as a child board of General Discussion.
Another question. Maybe I'm just a bit dense, but as I clicked through the galary it told me that I can't look at some pictures. How can I change that?
There is a setting to "show mature content" in your Account Settings, under Profile. And then you have to be > 18, which means your birthday needs to be set in your Forum Profile (the place where you change avatar and sig and the like).
-
:D Ahh thank you .. Found it now *blush*
-
Hello Foxeye,
First I wanted to say thank you for establishing this website! I and my sister both have been fans since '87 and will always love EQ.
I would also greatly love to post artwork...only I'm NOT computer savvy. If I manage to scan artwork, how would I go about creating a gallery and uploading images onto it? I've searched around the Gallery and Forums but seem to just get more puzzled about it.
If you could help point me in the right direction, that would be wonderful.
Thank you, and have a good weekend.
FireStorm :)
-
Good to have you here Firestorm. :)
I think your question is one that will come up easily, so I just now whipped up a picture-guide of how to add a gallery and images. Let me know if you still have questions after this:

Hey, in the same way that there's a chibi subforum for Holts, is it possible to do that with non-EQ related art? It would be easier to browse folks' artworks if you didn't have to look through assorted non-art related topics and would be almost like a second gallery. :)
-
Hahahaha, did you call it a chibi subforum?! That's cute. I like that.
And that's a good idea...I'll create one.
-
Foxeye -- I never saw an answer as to whether what I was asking below was possible or not. (I mean, if not, fine; I respect the limitations of programming! I just wanted to know.)

My apologies, I think I missed that before. :)
That would be an extremely useful feature. It's not one that is available as a standard part of the gallery package, I don't believe, but I'll take a look at their code and see if I can figure out how to add it myself. It's possible it's relatively simple.
-
Hmm, I can't figure out how to change the album icon? I've tried the "Upload Album Icon" and I've checked the box when uploading the picture, but it doesn't change ???
-

After you change it, try refreshing your browser a few times. I always have to refresh after I change an album icon.
-
Yay, it worked :D Thanks
-

*squints* ...oops! ...my eyes are getting old :P I thought it said "chibi" but it says "child". ;D Anyway, thanks a bunch! :D

Is it possible to move a picture to another folder without deleting it and the comments?
-
Is it possible to move a picture to another folder without deleting it and the comments?
Not between user galleries, apparently. Huh, wonder why they didn't add that ability...hrm.
Well, for the time being, send me a PM about which pictures you want moved and to which albums. I can make it happen behind the scenes.
-
Oh, btw Sgaana, in case you mentioned that functionality because of a concern that you'd missed art that had fallen off the front page, the "unseen" page (top right of gallery) will show you a list of all the pictures in the whole gallery that are new to you.
-
Uhm.. If one colours another persons lineart, is it allowed to put it in a seperate album, with credit given where due of course? Or should I out it up somwhere on the forum?
-
Yes, you can put it in your own album (I've done this for stuff I've colored). Just, as you say, giving credit (and having permission), are essential. If you can link to the original picture, so much the better.
-
*squints* ...oops! ...my eyes are getting old :P I thought it said "chibi" but it says "child". ;D Anyway, thanks a bunch! :D
X3 actually as far as I can tell it says "Chibi" Kitt Your eyes were not deceiving you.

umm, Hi! I was hoping to get some advices to few broblems I'm having, and maybe I'm an idiot or something for not finding the right place to ask, so I think this was the closest (Sorry if I'm stepping in someones toes!) well... I was wondering that is it ok to use one of Wendy's pictures as the avatar image?... I had the picture of Skot in the earlier gallery, I'm not sure if it's ok in this new gallery?... and this doesn't fit well in this forum, but how do I comment the work of other people? everytime I choose "comment" a strange side window opens that reads "move" or "close" it just goes on enddlesly... sorry if I'm a rotten fish poker! and if I'm annoying someone!...
-
Hello :) If you don't mind that I have a tendency to move posts around (a bit of a organization-freak I'm afraid), then I'm pretty sure you don't have to worry about stepping on toes. So far no one here is easily offended. :)
I was wondering that is it ok to use one of Wendy's pictures as the avatar image?
Definitely :) That is one artist that we have "blanket approval" to use. It is also safe to use any artwork by the team of Original Wavedancers (I asked).
how do I comment the work of other people? everytime I choose "comment" a strange side window opens that reads "move" or "close" it just goes on endlessly
That sounds like the comment window, though the bit about going on endlessly sounds ominous. It should look like this:

I take it that it doesn't?
-
oh, THIS is the place for me to add some questions about the art! ok... I don't know how i missed this!... anyway, I still don't know how to comment other peoples fanart... I just can't get the hang of it... and I have YET ANOTHER question, well, about my own character... can I post pictures of my own elven character, if he was made for Elfquest AND another fantasy world alike?... and should pictures that show hunting animals be counted as gore if there is some blood? or is it forbitten to even show dead game in the art?...
-
That sounds like the comment window, though the bit about going on endlessly sounds ominous. It should look like this: I take it that it doesn't?
yeah, it looks like that for a few seconds, then it starts "dropping down" waith an alarming rate (I cant keep up with it) leaving only multible copies of that MOVE / CLOSE text hanging about and it just keeps copiing that text on the screen like there is no tomorrow... the bar on the side just keeps shirinking and shrinking...
-
can I post pictures of my own elven character, if he was made for Elfquest AND another fantasy world alike?...
If the character has any connection to ElfQuest, then it's appropriate. Now if, for example, you redesigned your Elfquest character for, oh, a Lord of the Rings gaming group, so that they no longer looked like an elfquest elf, then those particular images wouldn't be on-topic. If that makes sense.
To complicate matters further...redesigning *canon* elfquest characters for another world is on topic. Because, well, they are homages to elfquest, and fans can make that connection.
and should pictures that show hunting animals be counted as gore if there is some blood?
Naw, blood does not equal gore. Internal organs clearly visible in a wound would be gore. The simple way to think of it is "have I seen it in the ElfQuest comics?". If you have seen Wendy draw it, then it's not gore. :)
There is probably a line that can be crossed, of things that are forbidden, but I would very shocked if we ever see any of that here. For most things that are more violent or more risque than Wendy has drawn, just toggle the "mature" filter on. :)

Oh dear! That's not healthy. What is the browser and browser version you are using?
-
Oh dear! That's not healthy. What is the browser and browser version you are using?
I'm using Mozilla firefox, though I have no idea what version it is, ME NO SMART with computers! hahah! well, I'll try updating the browser, and see what happens then... but I have to bother you again (the last time I'll do so in a while! I PROMISE!)... does the gallery allow non-elfquest characters, that have been tranformed in a Elfquest elf form?... I have few pictures like this, and I'm really not sure...
-
does the gallery allow non-elfquest characters, that have been tranformed in a Elfquest elf form?... I have few pictures like this, and I'm really not sure...
If they are drawn in the style of elfquest elves (four fingers, big swooshie ears, etc), then yes, please share! :)
-
I got the comments working now! thanks for the help in everything Foxeye! if I can be of service in anyway, just tell me, I'd be glad to help!...
-
Heya! Berit's here to bother you again! this time, I'd like to ask how can I add thumbnails to the character Bio I wrote? I really have no idea...
-
Read this article :) :

-
Hi, it's me again!! this time, I was wondering, that is is possible somehow to switch pictures within my gallery files?... I think I should have done a gallery file to my animal pictures separately, because now the file that has my characters, other peoples character and animals looks awfully messy...
-
It is definitely possible for me to move things. The blue "move" button may work for you as well, but I'm not sure...I seem to recall it was buggy in this version of the software. Create the gallery you want and try using the "move" option to move pictures there. (It's right above the comments area, second option from the right). If you don't have the option or it doesn'twork, let me know and I can move your pictures for you.
-
I don't seem to have the option, and I'd be glad if you could put the four wolf pictures from the "my characters and other mess" gallery to the "Animals and plants" gallery... sorry for troubling you so!...
-
In the Member Character's thread, I tried posting pictures of Wildfire, but it just says [limit Reached]. Help xD
-
Are you trying to post pictures using the "smg" tag, or are they from external sites? Does it give you that error if you try to just add more text in your post?
-
So, I have a question...well, you know, I can't produce my own fanart (of any quality), but really like good EQ fanart images of canon characters. What is the etiquette around downloading images from this site (and also from the fanart section of the Elfquest.com forums if you feel comfortable answering that too)? I absolutely will not be posting any images on the web or otherwise spreading them around anywhere or doing anything commercial with them; they are all going to live on my one and only computer for my enjoyment only. Is this OK, or does one approach each individual artist and ask permission (frankly I'm hoping not, but will if it's the right thing)? Thanks.
-
I know if it were me, I would want someone to come and ask permission from me to use my artwork anywhere, including icons. Others might feel differently about that though.
-
Yes, but saving it to your computer just for looking at it; nothing wrong with that I think. Any random googler can do that without thinking twice. It's very nice of you to ask (very!), but as long as you don't do anything with the images found here except saving them, I don't think there's a law that prohibits you from doing that.
-
If you are simply saving images to your personal computer and that is as far as it goes, then you needn't ask permission. I've not yet met an artist who was offended or upset at this being done. And after all, your browser is already saving everything it sees into the cache. :)
The point where permission should be asked is when images go from a computer back onto the internet, as aurianfae alluded to.
-
Thanks, everybody!!! I'll be so happy with all those nice pics to look at. I've got some EQ pics that display randomly in a screensaver, and these will go in with them. I really like watching it when I need to just phase out and relax a little, which is often.
-
Heya folks!
I was wondering, if there's any way to favorite others' artworks? I remember that the old eqfanart had somekind of favourite-system... I just love to see peoples' art, and it would be so very handy to have my own favourite-gallery-thingy where I could collect all my fav pictures from the awesome artists. It would save me the trouble of finding those dear pictures out of the member galleries every time I want to admire them. Could this be done?
-
Not at the moment, no. :( Coding that would be beyond my capabilities, and the people who make the gallery software would probably only do it if I offered them a lot of money.
-
Ah, that's a bugger. Gotta go without. But otherwise the gallery works very well I think! :)
-
Heya, I have returned to bother you again!... because I cannot remember if I asked this somewhere before (if I did, I can't find out where)... is is ok to send pictures that are drawn on lined paper?... (like notebooks or the kind)... I have few pictures like that...
-
Berit, yes, it's ok to send pictures that are drawn on lined paper :)
-
and I'm here once again!... just wanted to ask that can I post a picture that was made by someone else, (I have the artist's permission) if the art in question took reference from some other fanart ages ago, but the artist cannot remember what the reference picture was?...
-
That is a hard question to answer without knowing what you mean by "reference". Sometimes referencing a picture just means that one picture inspired another picture, but other times someone will copy a pose or a picture entirely. Could you describe the situation better?
In general, you can always upload something with the full explanation included. The worst that can happen is that I'll ask you to remove it. :) As long as I know someone doesn't mean to disrespect another artist, then I won't think poorly of them. I'll just ask that they add appropriate credit or if necessary, remove an image.
-
I thought the question of being able to post art by someone else had come up before, and the answer was no? Like, if I wanted to post a picture I had commissioned, of my character -- I couldn't. I thought your answer at the time was that the artist should be encouraged to join and create their own gallery.
That's how I read Berit's question -- wanting to post art by someone else, and on top of that, the other artist had based their work on some *other* piece of fan-art, but there's no info on what that was, so presumably credit to the work on which it's based can't be given?
-
Apologies, I replied too quickly the first time around. You are absolutely right Eregyrn.
That is, of course, the policy for the gallery. It is OK if you post artwork by others (with their permission) on the forums, but in the gallery all the artwork should be your own.
-
I think it was all the poses... the original image was a Tenchu related picture, my brother just wanted to make a EQ version of the fanart... well, I'll send it in the galleries, I'll remove it right away if there is something wrong about it...
-
I think it was all the poses... the original image was a Tenchu related picture, my brother just wanted to make a EQ version of the fanart... well, I'll send it in the galleries, I'll remove it right away if there is something wrong about it...
Berit, if you missed the conversation Eregyrn and I just had, one thing that isn't OK is uploading your brother's art to your gallery, even if you have his permission. He'll either need to have his own gallery, or you can upload it somewhere else and share it on the forums. Sorry for not explaining this in my original reply to you!
-
oh, Ok! then I'll go and remove the fanart! sorry for the trouble!..
-
oh, and while we are on the subject... what if I colored the drawing he did?... not saying I'd be doing so, but just wanted to know... this might be useful information for someone else...
-
If you colored someone's artwork, then that can be uploaded to your album, as long as you've given the artist credit and have their permission. :)
-
ok, and to make things perfectly clear, what if the situation was like here? the artist took reference from other fanart and doesn't know that name of the original artist, and then someone colored it and send it here, would that be ok?... sorry to bother you this much, but I bet this might be useful for someone, someday...
-
Just my 2 cents here -- obviously, the official answer is Foxeye's :) -- but IMO, in a case where you based your work on some other piece of art (whether it's fan-art or not), but now you can't find the original to get the artist's name... I would think it'd be okay to post it, with a note basically to that effect. "I based this on a fan-art piece I saw long ago, but I can't remember the artist's name and can't find the piece now -- does it look familiar to anyone?"
That way, at least your viewers would know what they are looking at (they would know that some part of what they're seeing is from you, and some part is owed to this prior artist). My viewpoint is that giving credit to other artists is very important, but it's equally important that you're informing your viewers of what they are seeing and appreciating. (You don't want your viewers praising you for your handling of a pose, or a wonderful background, if that's what you actually got from the prior artist.) And you never know, maybe someone else will recognize it and be able to tell you who did it.
I'll be interested to see what Foxeye says, though. I could understand the gallery's rules going the other way.
-
Eregyrn, stop stealing the words from my fingertips! *laugh* You posted while I was crafting a response that is basically the same as you just said:
There are two reasons to be thorough with giving credit:
1) So that you do not take credit for something you didn't do. Doing so is "cheating", and this is offends not just the artist who deserves the credit, but offends your peers as well.
2) So that appropriate credit is given to the person who deserves it.
If you can't do #2, at the very least you can still do #1. In the case of the pose, say "The pose was copied from another artist; I can't find their picture or their name". Sometimes someone else will know who it was and tell you.
-
Actually, I think I need to revisit this subject again. After discussing this at some length with Iri, I've changed my mind about whether it's ok to just say "I don't know who I copied".
There is referencing, and there is copying. Copying requires the permission of the original artist, referencing doesn't. So if something was copied, and you don't know who the artist was (and so you cannot ask their permission), then you should not upload it.
So...what is the difference between referencing and copying?
That...is a very large subject, and worthy of it's own conversation. Which could well span many pages. And probably would need pictures
For now, if you aren't sure, show the two pictures to Iri or I and ask our opinion. :)
-
Hi! it seems I'm always here! well, about copying, I added a little while ago a picture of one of the Gotara shamans to the gallery, and I don't know if I should delete it or not, I hadn't seen your latest post here, I can take it off right away if you say so...
and another subject, if I was planning to add an non-Elfquest gallery in the forums, I actually don't know how to do so, do you have to have a photobucket account for it, or could it be done by some other way?...
here is the link to the shaman picture http://www.elfquestfanart.com/index.php?action=mgallery;sa=item;id=2313
-
Hi! it seems I'm always here! well, about copying, I added a little while ago a picture of one of the Gotara shamans to the gallery, and I don't know if I should delete it or not
It's OK to draw things straight from the comic, as long as you freely admit that you did so, which you did. :)
Drawing things from artwork that isn't published by WaRP Graphics is a little more complicated. In that situation I'd want you to have the artist's permission.
and another subject, if I was planning to add an non-Elfquest gallery in the forums, I actually don't know how to do so, do you have to have a photobucket account for it, or could it be done by some other way?...
Alas, yes, you'd have to get an account with some place like photobucket.
-
Alas, yes, you'd have to get an account with some place like photobucket.
Aaaaaaactually...you might want to wait on that. Kael and I are getting close to moving this site to a new webhost. Once we do that, we are going to enable the ability to add attachments to your posts. It's not always the prettiest way to showcase artwork in a post, but it will save you from having to get a separate image hosting account.
-
ah, alright, thank you again!...
-
Hey! and yes! it's me yet a again! I was wondering, does this site allow me to upload "game art"? for example, if there was a game where I dug up the ground so that it looks like EQ character, can I upload it? or if I used some character creation of some game and created an EQ character, can I upload a picture of it?... I remember seeing something about the subject somewhere in the forums, but I can't find the post... I understand if that isn't allowed, because it is debatable is it art or not... but I've been wondering this for a while now... if no-one knows what I'm talking about, I can always link this to some examples...
-
The first example, of digging up the ground, as weird as it is *giggle*, I'd say "yes" to. It's a strange medium (digging up virtual dirt), but why not? Sorta digital-sculpting.
Elves created from character-generators, however, are a "no" for uploading, unless you've modified them in a digital art package after creating them. Forum posts on the subject are OK.
-
ok! thanks! well, I'll be adding some of them, then! they are screenshots I have cleaned a bit in gimp... and what if some game uses character skins, and I personally make my own skin in a drawing program, is that ok to post here? (I'm not sure if I'm doing anything like that, but just wondering)...
-
Aye, if you've done anything more than move sliders and choose from existing assets, that would be same as editing a screenshot in an art program. In other words, there is a personal contribution involved.
-
Alright! thank you!...
-
This isn't really a question, but I wasn't sure where to post it.
I am trying to move a drawing from one folder in my gallery to another, and it seems I can only move it to one of Foxeye's folders. I'm wondering if I'm the only one with this problem, and could it be fixed? Thanks!
-
That's a bug. :( And not one I've been able to chase down and fix easily. Send me a PM of which images you want moved and to where.
-
Hello there! Sorry if this question has already been answered somewhere, I just joined the site, but I'm wondering why I can't access certain artworks/albums, even though I can see mature works.
-
Hello there! Sorry if this question has already been answered somewhere, I just joined the site, but I'm wondering why I can't access certain artworks/albums, even though I can see mature works.
Welcome! :hello
Could you give me an example of which artwork/album you can't see? I did make some changes to permissions today...hopefully I didn't break anything. :ohno
-
Thank you! :D
Windrider's work is one example- The profile says she has 147 images, but when I browse through her artwork it only shows me the 27-or-so images from two of her albums.
-
Ah. Yes. :) That's because she is the coordinator for the calendar project, and so has uploaded 120+ images into the private albums for that event. :) Once those calendars go public, those will be visible to all members.
-
Oh, okay! Thank you for clearing that up :)
-
Buuut I have the same problem with Midnight's Album. It says 16 pictures but I only can see 10 and I could see others before. Her original characters I even left comments on are gone somehow.
-

One of her albums has been set to not let anyone view the art in it. I suspect it's in error, since she gave guests permission, but I don't want to override it since it's her turf. I'll send her a PM.
-
Sorry guys--it must have been a glitch......hopefully I fixed it? Didn't mean to make you feel unloved. :P
LM
-
and it's me again! yippee! sorry to bother you once again, I was just wondering if anyone of you knows why I'm having hard time in logging in lately, I've had to change the password countless of times to log in, for some reason it always tells me that I inserted a wrong password even though I'm most certain that it is the right one!... it's very odd, since no one besides me seems to have this broblem...
-
Hm, I must say, I never had this problem. Sounds a bit like it's browser related. Anyway, it's really good to have you back!
-
Huh? Somehow my questions just has gotten deleted. Maybe I just pressed the wrong button. Anyway, I cannot comment on smexy.fae's stuff. Did she disable commenting or is this a technical glitch?
-
Nope, me either. I think she disabled comments :/
-
Ah, no problem then. Thanks!

It's a problem that happens when people get confused by the "Profile" choices and use something other than a Default Profile for their albums. I'm guessing she woudln't upload her art if she didn't want comments, so I went and fixed the profile on her album. Should be comment-able now. :)

Thanky thanks!

Related to Berit's problem, recently I too sometimes have had to type my password a second time to login. But then it logs in fine. Could be also that I'm a sloppy typer. :D

I have had a Lovely time following the bouncing ball all over this Site. I have bn wonderfully digressed' by Wendy updates on Final Quest, seen pictures and talk-talks'. Whew.
Pardon my asking , especially if it has bn asked somewhere before. (I could not find it in my vitural travels)
1. " Where are the Pini Rules on Imaging / Fan Art written by Richard ? I know I found them somewhere and remembered reading not to use the Wolf Logo.
2. 'Can I download my own Model Sheets and EQ drawing quidelines without stepping on any "High Ones" toes ? . If feels like I am giving away a secret; even though it is the same formula used in the Big Gatherum.
3. "If so ; how do I title them . Copyright them. Share them. ? ? ?

Something that may have been here in the past, may not be here now, the site is under new management and so things are still (ever so slightly) in transition. I am not sure about the Wolf Logo, I used it in my calendar page and no one said boo about it but that doesn't mean you should. I guess if you remember reading that you shouldn't use it somewhere stick with that thought until we can give you an update.

You can upload them and if the Admins or Mods feel it is too close to the EQ version we will let you know and they may have to be removed but we can't know for sure until you post them. If they are your own and not copied directly from EQ it should be fine.
As far as title and copyright, if they are your own personal work put your name on them and title them as you like, just so long as they aren't copies. If you want you can mention in the description that they are based on the EQ character sheets done by Wendy Pini.
I hope this helps. :)

Reply 1 . Will wait for Update as you have the direct line to the Answer.
Reply 2. Thank you so very much; Everything helps. Yes - Everything is hand drawn and original.
? ? I was looking for "Terms" Let me explain . . . No , there is to much. I will sum up. Um. .
I really am at a loss for words here. As a new member I have no Idea what :
Bonus art implies. What Fair use is or covers. How a hand drawn Visual Guide Sheet should/could be shared and how a VGS completed by another artist should be catagorized. When I hand draw two things at once they are different non-tech involved pictures, but may look the same. Not bonus, traditional ? ? The Pini's have opened up their world at lot more now than 10 yrs ago. - Still I wish to tread lightly, as if I was in their home. "Fandom is at their sufferance." was our clubs Motto. All the changes are exciting - sooo I just don't want to go off half educated.
This Site is very respectful. I like your guys' Style. I am very New to On-line Fandom. I wish not to offend. Just color me Confused and not t-literal enough to explain.

I am waiting on a reply from Richard Pini with regards to the question you posted earlier about the Wolf Logo/Fan Art/Imaging, so hopefully I can give you more info about that soon. ;D

Bonus art is something that was done for the 2012-2014 EQFA planners and as for the other stuff, just post and if you are really unsure you should be posting an item you can always drop one of the mods or admins a PM and we can help you.
If you do happen to post something that we think shouldn't have been posted we will let you know and you (or we) can take it down. We are a pretty easygoing bunch.

Thank you, we are happy to have you but you really don't need to be as concerned as you are, just use your own judgement and if you are really unclear about something just ask.

I copied this from the Elfquest.com site a while ago. Hope it's helpful...

I was wondering if it's okay if I made a folder in my gallery in which I'd post photos of wolves. Only ones I made myself of course, and for the purpose of reference pictures for everyone on this site to use.

Sure, why not. ;D

R - Art Trades. Although I have no drawn art to trade at this time, I wish to know if anyone would like to trade some of their Calendar drawn Art for a 3D Model of Cutter ? ? I believe I have 4 pours left after a limited run of Twenty and I would just love to see them put together and painted by different Artist and Artisans. It is a 9 piece Model Big enough not be intimidating to put together. My Deviant site has pictures, so please look before you leap, an realize the cost of shipping for this Trade could be up to 35 $$ if you are over seas.
Maggie - Does this qualify under the Art Trade Rules ? ? ? Before bartering was forbidden ,as a profit, was made.

Hi Tah-Marien, I hope it's OK for you and Maggie, if I answer your question.
There actually has been a small exchange between Mouse and Foxeye concerning this topic and Foxeye managed to get a statement from Richard Pini concerning trade/bartering/paid commissions of Elfquest copyrighted art and characters. I quote from Richard's exchange with Foxeye:
I (speaking for Warp) don't mind if someone does a commission sketch at a convention. I don't mind if, in the course of an artist's work for Warp on EQ, they want to unload some of their original art pages. I do mind, however, if someone gives the impression that they are in the business of doing EQ art for others.
I do like the notion of freedom of expression with respect to fan art and fiction. I do not like the notion of someone using EQ for personal gain in such a manner that it appears we've given permission (explicit or implicit).
And I think we will keep 100% to Foxeye's statement concerning this topic:
So, in a nutshell, WaRP does not give permission to offer paid commissions, or sell fan artwork, of ElfQuest copyrighted material for pay. If someone feels they have a situation which may warrant an exception, then you can PM Richard over at the elfquest.com forums, or send him an email (I believe rpini_at_elfquest.com still works).
In general we have no qualms with posting sales, or offering paid commissions for, original characters. Whether or not any of your original characters run a risk of infringing on the ElfQuest copyright is not a gray area we are going to impose ourselves into.
So, Tah-Marien, an art trade for non-profit reason should be OK with original EQ characters. If you really just charge the shipping cost, I don't really see much of a problem.
Maggie, please comment, if you feel that this could be problematic.

NEW - Question Maybe a prescribed drug haze has left me loopy ! I cannot for the life of me find a way to Submit more ART. I know I Have submitted in the past , so I is very confused. " Posting " Does not cover Gallery. Where or where do I go and why can't I find it. I am very confused ! !
-
Click on the "gallery" button at the top menu. When you're logged in you can see the option "my albums" on the right. Go there and click on the album you want to add a picture to. In there you can find the option (on the right) "add an item to this album".
This is how I always do it (there's a more elaborate way to go through the members list and find yourself there), if anyone knows other/quicker ways, please enlighten us. :)
-
:D Thanks afke! That's really helpful.
There are other ways, I think, but this might be the most easy one.
I should make a mental note to make a guide with pictures once.
-
Question ? ? More of an suggestion really. FOXEYE did an amazing Monochromatic picture of MoonShade. I would suggest that we add the catagory on/in "Challenges"? What a wonderful challenge idea and a great example to live up too ! ! Anyone ?
I have something on the back burner that just might fit the bill. he-he
-
Good idea. It might be best to save a new challenge for after the calendar though. ;D
-
That is for the Best I agree. Otherwise I will try to finish one more thing in stead of working on my Comic page. You are Wise.
-
Haha, yes...wise and bossy...
Finish that calendar page! ;D
Your challenge idea is a good one though, so I will make sure to post it once this calendar business is done.

Heya! Berit has done the Marut thing and wandered around for quite a long time! but now I'm back! and let's start with two questions that might be obvious to others, but I need to ask..
1. How much gore is too much? I want to know so that I won't upset any people, are there perhaps some gory pictures/text I've posted here that are too much? if so, I'd like to know what they are... (I'm sorry, but I'm into gory art! stop me, if I post something that isn't ok)...
2. If I do these... doll thingies in dress-up games or doll makers, can I post them into my gallery, or should I post them to a forum post? (same goes with game renders, screenshots of games where I have created Terra-verse EQ characters) or are these things okay at all?...
That's all! thank you!...
-
Hey Berit glad to see you back at the site. ;D
Gore, hmm, well I don't have a problem with it, maybe just tag your art to let folks know there's gore to be seen.
As for the doll thingies etc, if it's EQ post it to your gallery if it isn't then put it with your non-EQ stuff. If it is based on EQ (your original characters) then to your gallery as well.
I'm sure I am probably contradicting some rule posted somewhere but I am an admin so I can get away with that...tee hee.
-
Ok! thanks! well, I'll be posting some dolls then shortly! I've written GORE in the title of every gory drawing I have and they are in a mature folder, hope that helps people who don't want to see them...
