Drunk marl draws
by Marl
My grandma celebrated her birthday yesterday. There was a lot of beer involved and I did regret everything this morning. In my drunkenness I did this not very defined comic of this image I sometimes get in my head when I post here.
I am well aware that everyone here is like 20-30ish years older than me and at first this made me a little bit insecure. After a while that luckily went away. Still it resulted in this image in my head of a cub(me) running up to some grown elfs(you guys) to excitedly show them their newest scribble of colour.
So that is that. Being her is awesome! Byeeee

![]() Without wanting to overstep any boundaries here, it's nice to imagine having a kid like you, being so invested in Elfquest and art, sharing and caring. I would be very proud of you! And it's weird that I actually gotten to an age that would make it possible to have grown kids and even grandkids... just an old girl rambling here. ![]() |

Please don't take this the wrong way, but... that's adorable!
![]() I can so imagine this irl -- possibly because I have been this myself, but irl only, haha. I was already 17 when I first used the internet, though I have been in online groups where I was amongst the youngest too. Long long ago. ![]() Continue, we love it, it's inspiring! Ooh, and it reminds me of the Zonnemeer superfan we had way back when. She was only 11yo at the time, and her older sister was a member of my holt. I had this rule you had to be at least 15yo to join. She made lots of fanart, was allowed to post on the OOC forums, and even came over for our irl holt meeting. Their parents dropped both of the sisters off so they themselves could first meet the weirdos from the internet they would leave their kids with for the day. ![]() It felt like once everyone was chatting and drawing, all age differences fell away, because we were all doing the same things, interested and invested in our holt and our characters. It always felt that way on forums too. ♥ |

Meeting and drawing together sounds just so so lovely! Great that you had that experience. And that the parents trusted you with their kids!

My maternal grandmother (Oma) would've had lots of wine, my paternal would've served really overly sweet tea. Anyway, I'm really glad you feel welcomed and comfortable here. Some don't, which is truly sad. I can say we are all happy to have you with us and thrilled to see your art! I can remember when I first joined the fandom, which at that time was almost if not exclusively offline. I didn't feel very welcomed for a long time, but with so many, I suppose I can understand it. Still, it didn't discourage me and I'm still kicking around. And damn it, I agree! That's adorable! I think most of us viewing your art actually have that reaction, too!

Hehe, your grandma (Oma) and mine (also Oma) would’ve gotten along perfectly!

Love them while you have them. Mine died some years ago and I miss her terribly. She was feisty and full of life despite such a hard childhood. My mother and everyone on her side of the family were German, so we called all the relatives by their German term and the American relatives by the English terms. Helped keep straight who we were talking about.
