Muse
by Afke
I already sketched this two weeks ago, and then got myself stuck, because it got too ambitious too fast. Last time I stopped drawing when I was asking too much of myself and here I am right back at that problem.
Don't get me wrong, I love the idea of this! But since I drew them full figure I'm raising more questions: Where are they? In a hut or outside? What items can be found in the hut? Do they even have access to wood, or do I need to use other materials? What is the lighting like?
Perhaps it's better if I focus only on the part I've inked so far, crop the view. Then I mostly need to settle on what Tukteh is holding; right now I'm thinking a board with a piece of leather on it they're painting on.
I'm hitting pause on this drawing for now, and go back to exploring these new characters in a simpler way, will revisit it later.

Oh my! Even if it is unfinished, I love the sensual tenderness in this. I am especially captivated by Tukteh’s expression, it is so good. The way they interact with each other is just so great. I am glad you are sharing even as you are hitting pause. Seeing the wip’s is just so special and adds so much.

Oh man this is so cooolll! The pose, the face, the vibe, it’s all just so perfect! Just ughhhhh, why can‘t I have this. WHY UNIVERSE? WHYYYY?
In addition, I always love pictures of work in progress pieces (even if they get benched for the time being) because it shows how it came to be. Take your time Afke. ![]() |

Ohhh, I adore this too! Their bodies look so sooo good! They have such a natural flow to them. Those legs! I just can't understand how you pull this off. I also love to see WIPs. Half inkedm half pencils it actually looks to me like a muse is helping them into being materialized.

That's lovely! Agreed with the rest, I like to see works in progress. There's something special about watching it come to life.
Saguaro cactuses make pretty good sturdy wood, or wood-like structures; it's webbed and sometimes knotted in neat ways, too. I think, even if they don't use their crooked wiry tuft-trees for wood, the Sun Villagers absolutely have wood options. They probably don't burn wood, ever! But they have enough to use in their structures, and sculptures. Their expressions, and the way Tukteh is leaning in a little towards Okatay, are just marvelous. So tender and hungry! |

Love the fluidity of their poses and their expressions. No doubting what they're thinking! Don't know why, but Okatay has my attention here. Something about her is gorgeous. As for the background, I can easily relate. I'll have to pose some wips here myself. Stuck on a couple as well. I think what you might consider for the background is maybe have hem outside near a hot spring and add some of the simple but effective backgrounds you've done so far with them. The sun setting so you get some stronger shading and various colors to play with.

I have replaced older pictures here before with better version, so I figured I might as well do this but planned. I really wanted to share this with you guys.
Oh, I have hotspring images in my mind for these two, don't worry, haha. Hot elves coming through! Looking at it now, I'm thinking perhaps have a window where their faces are, to draw attention there once I'm ready for colouring. Inside a hut still seems like a logical choice. Thanks for the info, Woodbee! I did some searching; using Saguaro cactus skeleton gives awesome results! I seem to recall there was some sort of stool in Leetah's hut, I wanted to put Tukteh on something similar. I'm gonna browse the books for more things-that-can-be-found-in-Sorrows-End, I'm sure I'll get some more ideas that way and be able to fill up that space and make it look lived in. I kinda like the idea that the image is unfinished because the artist was interrupted by the muse being too sexy, haha! I really like the whole pose, so still hoping I can use it all. My stock recommendation, where I got this one from as well: Adorkastock! They feature various models, including trans and nonbinary, and different sized people! |

Isn't it always nice when you get distracted by your own creation?
![]() Someone also said that about drawing the pinup calendars all those years ago.. I think it was Foxeye. And thank you so much for the link to the reference page! How wonderful! |

Thanks for the ref! I think the window where their faces are is a very good idea. A very nice framing device.
