Seriously, does this guy NEED a background? Quickstrike, Songjoy's soul brother (he actually has two) and his oldest friend. He's been clambering around in my head for a while, and I think the two have been conspiring to have me draw him. So there, guys, leave me alone! Exactly like his soul brother, Quickstrike lives for music and has gotten to the point where he makes and modifies his own musical instruments. His forte is stringed instruments, mainly guitars, but he is fixated on the lower pitches and notes and has modified most of his guitars as bass guitars. His name is mostly from his style of playing, a very skillful rapid fire, but he's damn good in a fight, too. Loves flashy, flamboyant attire unless outside of the holt. Nicknamed Fish for his propensity to stay in water unless you retrieve him with a pool scoop. Unless pushed or harassed, he's pretty chill and often will follow his soul brother in activities and ideas to see if he likes them. If he doesn't, he'll find something else. Rather explosive in temper if he IS pushed or harassed, especially if someone messes with Songjoy. Loves dreamberries (a bit Pike-ish) and lives for the moment. And if Dart thought Mender's cheekbones were sharp, I can easily see Quickstrike and Mender getting into a cheekbone showdown: "SUNDAY! SUNDAY! SUNDAY! Quickstrike's and Mender's cheekbones in a cage deathmatch to the finish! Come early, cubs get in free! This Sunday only! Let's get ready to Rrrrrrrruuummmble!"

Argh, I love that haaair.
And you can never go wrong with the purple/green color combo, it looks so pleasant here. XD I think his cheekbones would win over Mender's. |

His face somehow reminds me of David Bowie! Do you base some of your elves off of real people? His hair is amazing, as always - a real rockstar!

Aren't we all guilty of basing characters off living people or celebrities? But no, he's not based off of David Bowie. I think I was asked if Songjoy was based off of Jim Morrrison, also no. Marl, Songjoy and Quickstrike are both very fond of jewelry and could open a store - plenty to follow! Oh, and seats are still available - this Sunday only! Don't know if you're aware of it, but for many years in the US, commercials for monster truck shows and wresting of any kind (including cage deathmatches) always had this really loud and incessant announcer shouting, "Sunday! Sunday! Sunday!" and basically all that I've mentioned here.

Almost forgot, Woodbee. You're definitely next. The original sketch just wasn't working out, but I think I've come up with a new direction that will be even better if I can make it work. Also have a couple more ideas I'm working on. Mwahahahaha!

Nah, he really doesn't need a background, he's filling up the page with his personality just fine. I agree that he's a total Rockstar! And you can make that combo of violet and green work, I find that to be a tricky balance. The colors go so so well with his AMAZING and lush hair. Once more I'm so baffled about how much details you put into his clothes, the pattern on the borders and his jewelry! He's just such a handsome guy and seems to know it.

Thank you, Treefox! Quickstrike and Songjoy are difficult for me to really draw because of their propensity for snazzy clothing, something I tend not to bother with much. As they say, challenges will strengthen you. Or something like that. Never really cared much for purple/green combo, but he seems to, well, rock it. I thought I'd continue to motif of his jewelry in the outfit. I've discovered my scanner hates purple most. The saturation bar has mostly dealt with the hatred of red, but it did nothing to correct the purples. Ah well. Afke, I can understand why you think 80s, but the idea was more 70s. 80s would have this poor guy with frizzy hair under a bandana, silly patterns like paint splatter or racing stripes, makeup...the 80s...not my thing. Maybe it's just interpretation, maybe I just didn't do a good enough job. Either way, this is Quickstrike!
