The Way of Names
by Woodbee
Rahnee eventually defined the Way of the Wolfriders.
She inherited the tribe during a time of internal crisis. The most wolf-like of Timmorn's children left with the pack of wolves who had accepted them, and did not return until many wolf-generations had passed. Elf-children of Timmorn's lineage were Known by their parents in the womb, but in birth, their names slipped away and were lost. The High Ones and their descendants felt great distress at their incomplete understanding of their own children, and the children grew up without the security of understanding themselves. Without knowledge of themselves, they could be cruel to themselves and others. At last the tribe found that solitary meditation could bring their children to knowledge of themselves. Within themselves they discovered their Soul-names, their attachment to this world thrumming in their own veins. Timmorn brought the elf-touched wolves back to Rahnee, who brought them to the tribe to form the bonds of wolf-friends, and they hunted together for uncounted years... until the climate changed again, and warming plains brought both game and other hunters.

Great interpretation of Rahnee and Zarhan! For whatever reason, it seems a lot of artists struggle with Zarhan, for some reason, but I think you've done him justice! Rahnee looks especially interesting, in a positive way. She looks just as ready for a challenge but without arrogance or pride. Timmorn and Timmain are stunning, and I think you have an excellent way of drawing wolves that are at once Pini-esque and realistic. This story synopsis really has my interest and would love to see your version of it in comic form. I remember reading of Timmorn and Zarhan meeting up and blabbing, but I'll have to reread that. I think it was a bit jarring for me, especially the way Zarhan was drawn. Again, looked like some weird bug eyed, well, bug. With a Bozo wig. Loving these covers and thank you so much for posting them!

XD Yeaaaaah. Gorgeous wolves and fire, but it was clear that was where that artist's heart really lay!
Oh, and thank you! |

I really loved the stories about Rahnee as far as I remember. I read the books 20 years ago, same for the comic adaption, I think. You captured Rahnee so perfectly. You even got her fur-hair right, which I struggled with endlessly. And another fan here, that is happy that Zarhan doesn't look totally off, emaciated or just weird. He looks great and interesting in your version. Of course, rounding the background up with an eerie Timmain is again genius! What an awesome layout.
