So, he's done! Maaaan, again this was a struggle. More than I initially thought  :P I am not that happy with the end result, but a lot of effort was put into this.  ;D
I still truly wish Treestump was my uncle. Someone to lean on at all times. :love
Thank you all again for the feedback during the creation process.
Oh, I did make his left hand bigger, I hope it looks better this way.

Edit: I put on my glasses and saw that the upload was horribly pixelated from shrinking the image... I hope the new upload is a slight improvement.

The gold is so shiny! And I love all the various colours in the furs.
What is bugging you about it that makes you not happy?

A shiny thank you for the lovely comments! :D
The eyes are bugging me... they are too far apart. I tried to fix it so many times... this version is the best I could do. It looked fine in the sketch, but the "inked" version just wouldn't come together. However, I like it better after one night of sleep. :)
And I am also quite happy about how much the eyes stand out! This wasn't planned, but I really like the effect.

I still say that he looks like the bear’s trophy husband, lmaoo.

Joking aside, this is so beautiful Treefox! I love the contrast with the bright blue. He looks like he belongs in Greece, and I mean that in the best way possible. Love how the gold looks like fish, a nice nod to Rillfisher! I also noticed the hand on the axe. It really captivates me. The curve. The strength. Somehow you make their hands look so natural. It is just. Gorgeous.

Hahaha! I still love that!  Ohh, the connection to Greece is nice, I hadn't made that connection yet. And thanks for the compliment on the hand! While I struggle with hands, like so many of us do, I never had any problems making four-fingered hands look natural. Maybe because I grew up with Elfquest? Because I know some of my friends who used to draw Elfquest had that problem and were also put off by the elves' four-fingered hands.

Sorry, had one of those weeks for the last two weeks. Sigh. Anyway, loving this gorgeous illo of Treestump! Again, I think you captured his look, right down to that distinct nose! The eyes are really quite striking, lure you in immediately, but I don't think they're too spaced apart. They seem, not sure, maybe a bit larger than they are with his current age, but I regard that as he is proud and very happy about something that he just takes on a more youthful appearance. Sometimes when one smiles, it is so charismatic that you can't help but smile back. That's the sort of look he has to me in this. I would love for him to be my uncle as well; he seems so loving yet open with Dewshine as a father, you know he's got to be a great uncle! Okay, he's Cutter's uncle, but you get the idea. Anyway, the symbolism is really perfect here, and the bear definitely has a sort of, "Back off, he's MINE!" look to him/her. The fixed hand works as well, completing image of a character that's powerfully built and not afraid to stand his ground. This is truly a gorgeous piece and wonderfully rendered. THIS IS TREESTUMP!

Amberfox, you really can't catch a break... So so sorry.  :-[ I really appreciate that you taking the time to write such a lovely comment despite all that. You make some interesting points about his eyes. Of course, I looked at a lot of reference for this and it was fascinating how much his look and style changed through the years. In Kings of the Broken Wheel his eyes are actually quite large, while in later versions he becomes more narrow-eyed... so I guess unconsciously I chose something in the middle...  :D
And I agree 100% about his character! He was such a loving and supporting parent, I'm sure he would be a great uncle. Thanks for liking the hand and his bear-husband. :) And thanks for all the kind words. He took long to do but he was fun! A rarely depicted character, it was nice to give him some love.

I wanted to comment on that one for some days now. He does look like some sort of cuddly golden teddy bear.
It's a warm-blond base with some nice contrasts thrown in, his sparkling eyes and the Clearbrook-ish scarf/brooch. And many elements of Rillfisher and Dewshine. I think this is a good rendition of him. Gentle, but also strong, ready to defend if necessary.

Thank you always for your kind words. He's really a golden teddy. :love
Now I realized that not only Maggie but also Czarine has drawn a very similar portrait... We all seem to view Treestump in a similar light. Literally! ;D

This turned out gorgeous!
I want that jewellery so badly. The idea to have a part of everyone close to him entwined with the tiny chain is such a nice touch!
If I think about him, I also often picture him in Autumn, the time seems fitting for him I think.
As always, I absolutely adore your art of hair drawing! So great, so real, so good. And the beard
The more narrow eyes in his later age left me thinking - maybe he just needs glasses.

So sweet of you, thank you! Oooh, I like the thought of him wearing glasses! I think it would look good and add even more to his kind and supporting uncle vibe. :love
