The Painter -rough sketch-
by Treefox
While I was waiting in a meeting for colleagues to fix their technical problems, I made a super quick and rough sketch of the painter I put in my calendar pic. So, who is he/she? I would like to explore and maybe do a full color pic one day. Would be another nice occasion to do a pic with tradtionial media.

I think I'm the only one that thought male from the very beginning, but either way, this is a very lovely portrait and quite captivating! Can't wait to see the final product!

Thank you, thank you! It wasn't written, but when I showed the calendar pic to JaRF and Yavia, they both thought the painter is male.

It is interesting to give that person a face now. So maybe a complete character can evolve from a background figure in the calendar image.
![]() Edit: Well, elves are somewhat androgynous, aren't they? Some may have clear features, like Treestump (bulky and bearded), or the hourglass-shape and sometimes delicate limbs on some female elves in EQ. But who know, what brings each observer to a conclusion. There could also be expectation involved? Cognitive bias? Who knows. |

Your are absoutely right and I love that Elfquest subverts the traditional expectation of what male and female should be. And I'm also curious what's going to happen to this character.
