Wow, it seems she’s dome! Guys, thank you so very much for all your input and feedback. It might not be that obvious, but your feedback really helped improve the outcome. I enjoyed having that conversation so much. Really, thank you!
So here she is! Beautiful, wise, calm and huntress. She didn’t have it easy with Bearclaw and I’ll always love her for standing up to him. She’s done so much for the Wolfriders.

Oh, there she is! Very lovely! I think the contrast colors of the cloak balances the blues of the upper half of the illo. I imagine it couldn't be easy for her to be Bearclaw's lifemate, but she was devoted, loved him, and seemed to make it work. I realize so much work went into this and the focus is her, but I can't help but stare in awe of the jewelry and flowers. The jewelry has so much detail that it looks 3D and the flowers have a gorgeous art nouveau quality to them, almost ethereal. I think the use of blue in the shading on her skin was a good choice and is very beautifully done. I'd make it look like she was a zombie. You captured her calm, serene personality wonderfully. Another stunning addition to your portrait series! Not to push it, but I look forward to the next one, they're so amazing!

Thanks again for the wonderful comment! It's really nice and special that you take the time to write sweet and elaborate comments for all of us. It really helps in keeping me motivated.
I actually struggled in the beginning with whether I should make her jewelry silver or gold. But I thought gold would go better with the greens and blues and I don't regret that choice. The jewelry and flower were fun to draw. The butterflies took forever! ![]() And I so agree with your statement about her. And at least Bearclaw truly loved her back. So much even, that he couldn't live without her... Ah, we should talk about the next one in the portrait thread. Can't wait! |

I think gold was a better, more appropriate choice mostly because gold seemed to be more common among the Wolfriders, elves in general, than silver. With silver, you might have been able to add more highlights to it adding a bit more color and life, but in the end, gold just seems more "correct." I imagine the butterflies took a long time, I could tell, and I bet it took forever to color, too! The subtle colors of the background showing through their wings was well done. I am enjoying the series, and I'm sure I'm not the only one. I am working on art to post, including finishing the original calendar submission that had to be scrapped. Maybe we can encourage more artists to be active!

Gold is indeed more common. And it is a warmer metal color-wise. I myself being blond actually prefer silver jewelry...
Thanks for the compliment on the butterflies. It's always nice to have the hard (but fun) work appreciated. I actually listened to the Elfquest fan podcast on YouTube while painting them. ![]() But the truly spectacular news: you're working on art!!!! Yay! Oh, I am so excited! I would love to see your original submission! |

I think I have said this before, but DAMN Treefox! Your Joyleaf is absolutely stunning! Her hair is so soft looking and those butterflies! The transparancy! My favorite thing is her expression though, so pensive and I Wonder what Bearclaw has done now. I am so glad you let us take part in this!

Wow, thank you so much! I'm the one thankful that you're willing to talk with me and help me try to improve and just see different angles to what I do. Most of all: I just enjoy talking to you all!
![]() Btw, she's smiling slightly, so definitely pensive and maybe thinking of pleasant memories with Bearclaw (or Cutter). |
