Scene_01a Ekuar in the caves

Separate scene from my EQFA Calendar 2018 ("Entirely Ekuar") entry ("working hard...").
And here is the start, though it was intended to have some trolls in the final image, too. Ekuar fled from his imprisonment at the trolls, but ended up being still imprisoned in the depths of the troll tunnels, hurt and hardly able to get on on his own. This is where Rayek finds him and brings him out of the caves.
I used the "o" of "for" to place the scene in.

..sad...and nice, especially as we know that this scene is in the past and Ekuar never has to endure this again.

I really like the texture you've used here. It feels like rock, but at the same time it's kind of oppressing and closing in on him. I somehow get the feeling that there are many tortured souls inside that texture, which could be how Ekuar feels at that moment.

Thanks, you two.
Yes, good to know he's (hopefully) far away from situations like that. The texture was playing with filters in inkscape because I wanted to have something that resembled rock, yes. The whole thing was meant to be sad, depressing and rather hopeless and enclosing him in the "o".
Actually now that you mention it, yes, it does look like some (medieval) painting about lost souls and ghosts that are shining through a thin veil that separates them from reality. Like some angsty feeling that was submerged but boils up here and there to a surface.
It wasn't intended but I'm happy that it comes out like that and that you mentioned it. :)

What a tortured soul. Great job with the background, texture and look from behind at Ekuar. His eyes must be...too sad. This piece of Art is like a symbol for loneliness and/or despair.

Thanks, again. I thought a view from behind, his face turned away from the viewer and into a dark corner might add a little to the atmosphere.
Originally I wanted to do his life in stations (from baby to elderly), but lacked the time and space. So I kind of started with where the main story introduces him: When Rayek stumbles upon him in the Troll caves.
