Wavedancer Ekah - 2016
by Berit
Something I did for Startear! I honestly don't know how wrong I got her features, but I like drawing bony characters so I might have gone overboard with it... I also couldn't figure out what kind of shirt she would have so I made a variation of her shirt... and green tail since I've seen her with green pants...
Startear, give me honest feedback of what I got wrong, so I know better when I draw her again... also, there is another picture of her, but scanner went a little bonkers again, (as seen by colors here, looks weird at parts) I will try my best to upload the other picture tomorrow after fixing the scanner...
And I messed up the hair big time! I meant for her to have the longer front hair but as I was drawing it flowing in water... it looked as she had a headfull of hair that length! sorry 'bout that!...

Oh, and Startear, may I post this to my art page? it's your character, so if you want this to stay here, it's also fine by me...

Glad you like it! but seriously, is she too bony? or other things wrong about her? Oh, and thank you for letting me upload this to my art page! here is a link to the image if you wish to check out I didn't mess things up... http://wahhoo.tumblr.com/post/138178557766/wavedancer-ekah-2016-something-i-drew-for
I'll post the other image soon, don't get too excited though! it is a quick marker sketch, did it as I was wondering if I should draw her with markers of wood-colors, the markers were too dark so it looks a bit weird... |

I really enjoy drawing her bodybuild, it is so different from other types of female characters I usually got to draw... all my characters have a different body structure, in EQ, I happen to have my most "fit" male characters, but still their muscles look different, Cade is a bear, Marut is Marut, a little plump in town and thin in wilderness and Tomi has an agile and nimble body build, yet packs a little muscle... I've honestly though of turning my old geezer elf, Geodel as an EQ elf as well... he would be bony and his body tissue aged to the point it has started to hang slightly... not sure yet! but now I want to draw a plump EQ girl as well!...
Oh sorry! I started to ramble on... sorry! I'm just inspired currently! if you have idea for a bigger EQ girl, just name it!... also. so the amulet is PINK! darn! it was my bad! didn't check well enough! gotta remember that next time!... |

I wouldn't have considered the color combination, but I really like it. As for bony, I think her arms are a bit thin but not necessarily bony. Perhaps against the defined waist and hips they may seem bony or bonier than intended. I like the hair floating around her, it shows movement and the fact that's what happens when you're underwater! She looks lovely and really having a great time. Wonderful job!

Thanks Amberfox! well, I took the colors from what Ekah is pretty much wearing, only added the yellow fins... I wasn't sure how bony what parts of her were, so I did it like this! sure! there is a ton of things wrong, but this being my second time drawing her, I think I did ok...

I think one of the most important things when drawing different sizes and body types is to take everything in, but not be afraid of variation! Fat and muscle sits on different places. You can have muscled legs but thin puny arms, like meself. Or with strong upper body but thin legs, or both, etc. Same with fat.
I... I often find that when people draw women who are plus size, or fat if you prefer to take that term back, glorify big boobs, draws a slightly bigger stomach and calls it a day. Then go on and neglect other "less pretty" parts. Like rolls, or stretchmarks. Or even the much dreaded double chins. Which is understandable, because many of us who have these things are ashamed of it. I can speak from personal experience that while I love my body, my double chin is something I sometimes get self conscious of. But the truth of the matter is, some thin people have double chins, rolls are natural part of our bodies, and everyone gets stretch marks. But it's only called after when drawing someone who is plus size. Which is understandable but it gets fustrating tas well. |

Hahaha! You shouldn't be ashamed of a thing like that! I mean, what is there to be ashamed about? and clearly you have not seen the big girls I draw, I draw them all their glory, wiggly lower arms and all... Man! I probably should put some images of my plus sized girls somewhere in my non EQ art post here in forums...
and to anyone who is plus sized, if you are happy being that way, be that way! and being a guy I can promise you there are lots of men who like bigger woman as well as bony thin woman... and I'm not saying this because you should look like something for men, but it's the truth!.. I bet it's the same for girls who like girls as well! sure we see jackasses, they are annoying towards everyone, not just you... people like those attack every person if they see an opening... just let shit like that be... it's hard, but trust me, they target everyone... so Startear, chin up! look at your flaws with new eyes and see how beautiful they are... they are you, and that itself is beautiful enough, ain't it?... |

Ah, great words Berit! Yeah the world is waaaay to good at showing you your flaws and making you being ashamed of it, even though there actually is nothing to be ashamed of... I often really wonder how I would judge my body if it never received any judgment from the outside.

Yeah, douchebags like that are everywhere... and it sometimes irritates the heck out of me! oddly, not if the insult is directed at me, but to others... previous winter a teen shouted nasty stuff at a local woman that was burned really bad and scarred for it... I honestly couldn't help it, I gave the teen a nice little snow wash in the nearest ditch... I just flipped because I cannot stand rude people... (well, people at all mostly, but I especially hate the rude ones!) don't worry, the teen is alive and all, but he hasn't been rude ever since... but seriously, even though I have not seen you, I don't even need to see you... you are all beautiful people, trust me on that... you are my elfin family and every "flaw" you have should be considered a decoration... as I said, it's part of you, and thus should be considered beautiful... it's you, part of your very self... think of that next time you look at your "flaws"... be beautiful AS YOU...
