Cute! Although, I'll admit… for the first time, on this page, I had a little trouble following things. I'm not sure if that's because it's referring to elements outside the story that I can't fill in… mmm. But it's not entirely that.
In the middle panel, I just couldn't quite figure out the sequence -- I wasn't sure what Foxtrail's "ugh" was in response to? Because it didn't seem like anything his sister said in that panel, or the one above, should have provoked such a strong reaction from him. (Nor was I sure what the motion-lines at his back were meant to represent.) (I would also say, just as an aside, that the small "smile" in the panel above isn't really necessary. You did a good enough job of shifting her expression between the two panels, that it comes across without it.) Further, in the bottom panel -- I'm okay with the fact that she's referring to stuff from outside the story, I mean I think it's clear enough even if I don't (as a reader) know the particulars. I think what still left me confused was her additional "at least three times, I think" comment -- I couldn't figure out what that was referring to. It would make sense as an addendum to "Your recent pranks stirred up the tribe. (At least three times, I think.)" But since two other comments came between that line and the addition, it doesn't feel any more like it's referring back to that? And it doesn't fit with "Badger is very annoyed" or "Try not to get skinned please". So it seems like a bit of a non sequiteur, I'm afraid. But I like the wolf's yawn. (Though I personally would probably have suggested using the dark grey tone to indicate the line of a closed eye, and highlights on the nose, to help five it some more features. As I said before, I sympathize that black wolves are hard to figure out how to handle; I'm always dissatisfied with the way I do them. But there's something about the eye-less-ness -- even though it makes sense for a black wolf with closed eyes -- that I find just a little disturbing.) |

You´re right about the 'smile', I don´t even know anymore why I put it there. Maybe I should´ve put a 'jolt' or 'jerk' instead of the 'ugh' in the middle panel. Foxtrail´s exaggerated reaction is mostly meant to underline the sudden change of mood when Softfur becomes snappish and calls him acorn-brain.
I´ve heard the same thing about the 'at least three times' comment from other sides as well. It does refer to the numerous pranks and was meant as an additional tease, but I see how you find it confusing. (btw, Badger is chief at the time the story takes place. He´s a rather grumpy and serious fellow who tends to get annoyed by Foxtrail´s antics easily and pulled his ear for them quite some times before) |
