 I know this is just another copy of a far more wonderful original piece, but I still think it turned out ok (even if his posture is a bit off, he's still "my" Strongbow  )...

Yeah, I like seeing how you use exercises like this to work out approaches to figures and coloring. I'll be really interested to see what your own "elf style" looks like now, after practicing with these!

I've had a really long pause (we're talking years) when I haven't painted anything elf-related (been reading though)... So I've been trying to catch up with my elf drawing skills by basically copying Wendy's art (not very original, I know)... I wasn't happy with my current "elf style", too square and too many sharp angles, so that's why I wanted to go back to Elfmom's softer touch... Practice makes (almost) perfect! Unfortunately I won't have that much free time this fall for doodling, so I'll probably stick to one calendar pic... but I'm so looking forward to everyone else's contributions! So many different styles, so many pretty elves etc.

Well.. er... it was harder than I thought to NOT draw elves once I got started (just finished a pic of young Winnowill)... but I guess most of us here suffer from that condition
