So awesome! I like how you've used the original poses, and Skywise rocks in that armour!
Oh wait, now I suddenly notice how you've changed Tyldak's shadow in a multiheaded dragon! ![]() |

This could start a whole new Challenge: re-imagining favorite scenes from EQ into our national or regional flavor. Do-able?

Quote What is that cloth she's holding in her left hand? Treefox, спасибо большое. This handkerchief. The fact is that in Russian fairy tales full of all sorts of magical items: scarfs, thread, needles, towels (for the Russian "ruchnik") and so on. If Leetah would fall into the frame - a handkerchief would be her. Quote Oh wait, now I suddenly notice how you've changed Tyldak's shadow in a multiheaded dragon! afke, thank you very much. It so happened that a Russian fairy tales almost no bats. But, nevertheless, flying creatures in folklore, is: the you call "Dragon". We call - a reptile, with three heads, which we call the "Snake Gorinich" (from the word "burn"). That is, breathing flames, a snake named Gorinich ))))) |

Quote ...wasn't there a King in Russia called 'Iwan the Terrible'...? Yes, we had a king. Only Winnowill, before the king, go back to school and learn to do evil. ))))) Last thing that made Winnowill - is poisoned children in the womb and kill people and little elves. King 'Iwan the Terrible' was very fond of tortures: kill their wives, their children, but if we talk about ordinary people - it is a solid censorship. He killed many people. Basically, not guilty people. There's even 'American Psycho' - nervously smoking in aside. Winnowill witch Baba Yaga. And Baba Yaga - is ambiguous evil: it can do bad things, but it just might do good. It all depends on the circumstances. Sorry my bad English ))))) |

Quote This could start a whole new Challenge: re-imagining favorite scenes from EQ into our national or regional flavor. Do-able? This is an interesting idea. But I do not know very well the culture of other nations. It would be nice if other artists have adopted this idea. We could learn more about each other and especially of different cultures. Quote Well, they might not all get this fancy... And you, would obtain a good picture)))) |

Thank you very much))))
Ivan Bilibin - great illustrator of Russian fairy tales and epics. Winnowill compared with Baba Yagoy, not in appearance, but in character. Winnowill - not an absolute evil, and that is in very Slavic. We do not have bright villain. In all the troubles we have to blame anyone, any fairy tale character, but not human. )))) About Snow White. This is a very tricky issue. We have a "Tale of Sleeping Princess and the seven warriors". The essence of the tale is the same: a wicked stepmother (the evil queen), leads into the forest a beautiful princess. Princess finds a home in the forest, home to seven heroes. Next: apple, accidental death, a crystal coffin, the Prince Elisha, passionate kiss - all happy)))) To what I said? We have a cartoon on this tale. So, costume Winnovill almost identical costume evil Queen. Well, we have no evil in the legends of women. Baba Witch do not think ... It is a mythical creature ))))) Sorry for bad English. I hope you understand what I'm trying to say? )))) |

It's a B/W movie, made by the great director Sergeij Eisenstein. (...hope I spelled his first name correct... ![]() The movie must be from the 1930s, but know what? ![]() ![]() ![]() The Setting reminded me a lot to the style of the interior of Blue-Mountain. ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Yes, all right you wrote.
About our Tsar and decoration of premises. You do not think that we all so gloomy. We long to treat this with humor and stories in the reign of Ivan the Terrible called "dark time". I want you to smile. We have a movie (comedy) "Ivan Vasilievich: Back to the Future" (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0070233/). If you liked Mr Trulolo, you no doubt appreciate, and this film: Счастье вдруг в тишине постучалось в двери Russian long been treated to all the bad with a great sense of humor ))))) |

I just meant that this design of Winnowill reminded me of the design from the Disney animated movies of "Snow White" (here is the evil queen from that movie: http://juno-books.com/blog/evil_queen.jpg), and "Sleeping Beauty" (here is Malificent: http://thefilmstage.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/03/maleficent-590x442.jpg). Just in looks/design, I mean, and filling a similar role in the story.

elfeneyes, Thank you. I offered to artists from different countries to redraw this picture in the style of their folklore. But something was promised and not all painted )))))) And I wanted to see straight German or English or Irish version ))))) If I was more familiar with American history, I would have drawn more and version of the Wild West) )))) In the style of "3:10 to Yuma" or "Gold Rush"))))

Darn it! I thought I had posted to this one! Yet another gorgeous reimagining of Elfquest! The colors and images are so lavishly and lushly done with such attention to detail! I do not know the traditional name of it, but I think Strongbow looks really sexy in his Russian tunic. I was also curious about the hankerchief, but thank you for explaining it. I suppose I could try a German version of EQ (Mother's side of the family) or a good ol' down south version of it (yeehaw! Father's side of the family).
I can't stress how big a fan I am of your artwork! |
