Don't Leave Without My Friend

Troll mump Mugwart has befriended elf captive and slave Twilight. When Mugwart realizes there are other elves loose in the troll caverns, he seeks them out and asks them to please take his friend with them. Story illustration for Shadow Vale Holt, story written by Jen Seago.

I don't recall offhand ever seeing a troll youth in the original Quest, so I just gave it the ol' artistic try. I made Mugwart's eyes a little larger,  browridge missing, nose a little smaller, face a little rounder, features softer much like you see in most species' young. Twilight is Aura Moser's character, Mugwart is an adoptable character. And yes, Twilight has wings.

I think you did very well on the young troll. All the same physical rules apply to mammal children so if you incorporate those like you did, you'll succeed.
I've drawn my share of troll kids, perhaps I could look them up.

Thank you, I tried. Do you recall seeing a troll mump in the original Quest? Not having a reference made it interesting.

Oh, and I found the sketch of one of the other characters I did of yours: Kitana. Never finished it; she's still very much a sketch.

I think one kid can be seen in book 4 when Guttlekraw visits the women's quarters. But yeah, not much. And then there's Trinket, but she's so tiny!

Oooh, could you still finish it? I'd love to see it. :) I still do some old character drawings myself. I won't forget them!

Sure, I'd be more than happy to. I think I'll have to dig that illo up again, but this time I know where I stashed it. Do you still have any reference art or CIS for Kitana? I might still have something, but I didn't see it offhand.

I only have this one picture of her online at the moment (www.afkevanherpt.nl/tsukitokala/art/afke/tokala_kitana1.jpg), but that won't help you much I guess. I'll see if I have one on my computer, otherwise I'll check old backup CDs.

You said you were doing one of her with the squareshaped collar, right? I'm assuming she's too young in this one?

Detailing on the wings is just darn awesome! must've taken ages to complete them! a nice picture, hope he was accepted well by the other elves... what is the story about the winged elves, if I may ask?...
