Holt of Grand Illusions Calendar
by Amberfox
Done for Holt of Grand Illusions for our second holt calendar. Yeah, it's old, but it's color AND a group shot! One requirement for the calendar was to draw at least one character from each member with a birthday in that particular month, so of course I had to choose July! I don't think this constitutes mature content, but if so, let me know and I will do what is necessary. The dark haired couple on the left is Duskfall (Annette Pschirrer) and lovemate Shadowhawk (Louise Waghorn/Annette Pschirrer) seeking a bit of privacy. Hazel is enraptured by Keystone's clarinet (both Beth Blackburn), and our flirtatious blondes are Sunflight (Annette) and Amberfox (me).

Again, the scanner ate the colors I worked so hard on. Keystone's hair was a nightmare; I used at least five different red colored pencils and a grease pencil (want gorgeous, bright, shiny red? Use a grease pencil!) and colored each individual curl. The blues in the raven haired characters were at least three different pencils, and about six yellows for the blondes. The trees have about eight browns and the greenery about a dozen. I used several blues and purples for the water.

It's been great to see you get caught up with so much posting recently! Sorry I haven't had time to comment on more of them. This one stands out, obviously -- although, your detailed b&w backgrounds are enormously cool in their own right, it's also really nice to see you do color in this one. Wonderful stuff!

It was a lot of work; took me a long time to finish it.
I actually have years of color work, but a lot of it is really old and I guess it's my style, materials, or scanner, but very little ever comes out with the colors intact. I may post an old one where the character is really skinny, but the colors are nearly exact to the original. It's okay; I'm really behind in commenting myself! |
