Chamelion is Laurey Sebok's character in Ocean's Edge Holt.  Chamelion is a metamorph (shapeshifter) that sort of morphs to match what is in her environment.  She doesn't necessarily change into an animal or plant, she just mimics the color and texture to disappear into the background.  This is a story illo from a while back where Chamelion was hiding among birds in a tree.  When she jumped (or glided, can't recall now) to the ground to be seen by another, she began to change back to her elfin self in the process.  Laurey requested I depict that.  So, top half is changing from feathery bird to elf, bottom half leafy green matching the undergrowth.  She was pleased with the end results.

Yeah, I wasn't sure what to make of it myself when she told me, but I enjoyed the challenge.

that sure is an interesting skill! but it is even more interesting to see someone make art od such a skill using only black and white! it must have been very challenging! with colors one could have "cheated" to make the character look like she was changing... wonderfully drawn is someone asks me!...

Thank you, Berit!  The hardest part for me was trying to draw the upper portion of her face almost feathery in appearance and still make it "realistic" and recognizable as an elfin face.
