I wasn't planning on doing more EQ art for a bit, but then I realized that I could use Tynami's sketch to experiment with a color palette I've been itching to use (it's a very elfquest-ish color palette, and not very suitable to the more realism-focused Jungle Fire). So I snuck in some time here and there while working on other stuff. No doubt it's my brain's backlash against the less bold colors of art markers.
Kudos go to conceptart.org and their online color theory class. Really blew my brain off in a good way.

As I mentioned before over at DA this is simply briliant I love the soft colors and the water still just blows me away every time I look at it.

Quote The only thing I think I noticed is that if the water is that shallow it would have been more clear... ie, the sand would be showing through more. I agree 100%. ![]() |

Oh I totally understand that one. Not wanting to add things because it would mess up all the beautiful work that you did in the first place!

I love these colors, they're so playful. And the cool shading coming from the water really merges well with her warmer colorscheme. Pretty.

I really love this illo. The relaxed pose she has, and her apparent gazing up at a bird with the bird's reflection in the water is just a fun detail. The coloration is great; everything is soft and almost pastel, but it works to invoke actually being at the beach. The colors play off of each other very well without overpowering anything.

I could have sworn I commented on here about this one. Was probably on DA. I really adore this image! The way you have her is perfect! Her need for water with her need to see the sky... that is so her! I can't remember what her birds name is now... When I first saw this one it moved me beyond words. Again, thank you for such a wonder piece of artwork.
