I think this was my favorite Rayek in the books, both in looks and personality. But I don't think he still had that ponytail at that moment.
Coloring tip; the shading of the cape looks so awefully black that it loses it's shape. I think a darker shade of that yellow would look nicer on it. |

Actually, his cape is black inside with yellow on the outside, at least according to the digital comics for SABM

I think the black is just the inker's shadows. There are a few spots (like the fourth panel here) where it shows golden on the inside as well.
It's tricky, being accurate with colors for some of these outfits, because many of the colorists didn't pay attention. You are a braver woman than I for trying to make sense out of the madness.

Even when hair or clothing is supposed to be black, I usually pick a dark shade of gray to fill it, so I don't completely loose my linework.
