Do you mind me sharing something I was doing but discontinuing because quite frankly, it is stupid?

A couple pose. With Uli and Beyond. Your characters, while being interesting and I love the designs are hard to doll. At least I think so. so I wanted to doll both of them together, but soon after finishing the make up on Beyond, it occured to me that this is most likely out of character and stupid. So I stopped.

For this piece I kind of wanted to not have any more lines than the ones in the cloth already. It is my fourth attempt to color with my Faber Castell Pitt Artist Pens.

A ballpoint pen drawing, one of the chaps on the sketch dump I had. It is Eridan Ampora from a AU where everyone is on a facility for mental illnesses.

My avatar. Very much in spired by Eridan Ampora in said AU story. Not quite him though. If I'd ever write a story for my version, it would be much about learning to shine in one's own light... which I wished Eridan to do in canon, but never did.

For mine it is starting to look rather dark.

Minyah was more or less done, but my mother decided to tidy up everything which was after her word, junk. (Gee, thanks a lot.) So not only was my finished product thrown in the bin, but the sketches of how to set it and such. I tried to rescue them, but alas they were drenched in coffee.  :argh

Bowki has given me a lot of trouble from the start, I have a hard time figuring out in character poses.

Greenz is still in sketching phase. I have to see if my scanner can accept skin coloring with the copics I'm getting. I've tried tweaking the image in photoshop, but my skin colors won't show with my color pencils.

As for what is really making everything looking dark, I got word on when my exam is, and it is not only three weeks earlier than anticipated but on the same day as the due date for the calendar. :( I'll try to get them done in time, but they may have to be pushed aside.

I just placed a bid on ebay. Nine copics, sketch markers. 32 dollars is my bid. *fidget* I want to get them, but at the same time not, because it was a slip on my part. (I wasn't supposed to do a bid at all! And people wonder why I keep being broke :P )

Don't worry about it.  :) I usually get a little enthusiastic about my new art toys.

I can only say that I love mine. Pretty much have to lay off the links to buy them. Have a lot of traveling to do this month. And I have money again, so my fingers itch every time I see the skin tone set, but they aren't for pleasure. Especially since I'm still unemployed. :( Can always wish for Christmas.

Really? I found that it mostly depends on where one places the next stroke. I rarely color quickly either, one of my test drawings with these was colored on the subway. I was about halfway finished when I put it down to do other stuff, and went back to it 3 hours later.

I don't use mine for inking. My hands are rarely, if ever steady enough to make the nice ink lines. I keep practicing, but as of yet I'm not successful.

Some links.

Oh, they are lovely. It says that it is pen, but technically works much like marker. Could even say that they are a cross between a pen and a marker. They have a brush tip. If the color is too hard, one can smudge it. One must be quick though.

Some has complained that it makes streaks rather easily, especially on printer paper. Own experience with trying says that depends on where you place the strokes, how you apply it, and where your paper lies. I've found that I need to place my paper on more paper in general.

Oh, and these doesn't bleed through the paper. That's nice.

As for my colors, they are called Manganese violet 160, Permanent Green Olive 167, Pink Carmine 127, Phthalo blue 110, Cadium Yellow 107, and Dark Chrome Yellow 109.

I've decided that I can't live without them.  :D

I've been watching tutorials for Pitt artist pens today, and one of the people were making a point that the reason why he used them was because he made a lot of art on the go, like subway and busses, and the Pitt pens doesn't give out any odour. Which made me wonder, does the copics give out smell?

Last time I had money, I got meself some Faber Castell Pitt Artists Pens. When it was family therapy week at the rehab center my father was in, I met this amazing woman who showed me her set, consisting of 48 pens. Which is the reason why I bought these beauties. I'm still in the learning process of using them, but so far very happy with mine. And I was wondering, are there anyone who has used them here? Like dislike and why?

I actually have one tip. If you are making something with black text on, like Aimless Renegade in Homestuck who wears caution tape all over him, apply the coloring first. The ink in these pens are, surprise surprise, wet. So they started blending the black pen writing, which isn't what I wanted at all.

Might not be a problem when making elfquest drawings, but worth mentioning anyhow.

In Homestuck I'm a big fan of the Exiles. I've come to notice that usually, one draws either Wayward Vagabond, Peregrine Mendicant or Windswept Questant, while Aimless Renegade and Writ Keeper are usually not portrayed as often.

Not that I don't understand why.

Wayward Vagabond is at first glance a goofy person, with a lot of dept. He raised a rebellion against the ceaseless war between Derse and Prospit, and was witness to a slaughter of not only the Black King but all of his friends. After this he has displayed a survivors guilt and is very hard on himself whenever he commits a mistake or gets stupid thoughts. He is also hard on other's display of stupidness. He calls himself a mayor, and wants to bring justice, as the founder of Can Town. He talks to you in a rude manner, he distrusts and dislikes royalty, he is a vegetarian and freaks out for seemingly no reason.

Peregrine Mendicant is a plain Jane. A letter carrier who will do whatever is needed to do her duty. The mail shall be delivered, even if she must kill. This was sadly the reason why Jack became so powerful, he asked her to give him the white queen's ring and white kings scepter in exchange for a package a man of law had confiscated. This was something he always asked, because someone actually doing it was hilarious. He didn't expect her to do it. With those things given, he rose to power. Unlike the Vagabond, she is very polite. She is appointed to be a queen herself, and is told to bring Jack to justice.

Windswept Questant was once the white Queen of Prospit. She is the prettiest of the Exiles, her carpace isn't as dirty as the other's. When PM came to her, explaining the bargain she had made, the queen abdicated, and gave PM the ring. She lived in a world of constant war, but seems to care for her people. Or does she? When she shows up in the game, she appoints PM, who was once her citizen to Queen. She becomes the royal advisor, having first hand experience, and tells the new queen that it is her duty to rebuild the kingdom in this new land (Earth) and put Jack to justice. This makes many ask questions about her motives. If Jack is put to justice, will she take the throne away from PM?

Aimless Renegade is the only other from Derse. He was a regulator, ensuring law to be followed. He confiscated a package, which was given to Jack Noir. So he can be percieved as one of the people responsible of the exile. He is obsessed with justice, but in the more violent form than the others. A carnivore. He saw that someone was sleeping during the fall. He stapped the person to the flight board and rescued said person. He could have died. He tried assassinate both PM and WV, but seems to have a crush on the former.

But still, people know more about the others than him. Rather sad. :(

So i had to draw him. But messed up. I use my Pitt pens quite like markers. Not sure if that is either cost efficient or smart, but it gives a lovely strong color. Still love my color pencils, but it comes better off on my scan if I use the pens. I didn't think that using the black pen for text might be a bad idea. It was, smearing together rather nastily. Thought that even a unsuccessful drawing was better than nothing. And I'm a fan of showing people how one can fail.

I liked Timmain being more unable to understand how her children clicked. Winnowill was very flat, but she has become so in canon too.

Man I adore the Cutter with a stick in the last panel. At first it took me a while to understand it, because the light in this room is just so bad that my eyes fluked. Thought you wrote "New Blood" and it confused me. Then I adjusted my eyes. But... imagine everyone using sticks. Still have ElfQuest as it is, no rewrite. Only just sticks instead of weapons. Nightfall raising her dagger to attack the zwoot would look especially stupid.

I agree! Even if it was to be a movie for a younger audience, I think you should also take kid's intelligence seriously. Kids can handle more than just a simple black and white color scheme.
I read Elfquest first when I was really young and definitely loved that some things made think. I guess that's also one reason why I love Astrid Lindgren's books (and movies) so much. She definitely takes kids seriously and deals with more difficult subjects in her books. And still it was likes, popular and I can also still read these books as an adult without being bored.

Marry me.

This emicon fascinates me. But I agree, the Rayek thing really annoyed me.

Then again, Ive never seen him as bad... just as a character who has taken bad choices.

Ah... yes, the movie script. Read it all last night.

What I liked

The art is really nice. As Treefox says, it is sketchy, but it is emotionally very good.

Covering how scary the Wolfriders finds open spaces. After living so long under trees, it is no wonder that they feel intimidated by the sky. Was in OQ too, but not covered as well as here.

Picknose being shut out with the elves, and crossing Sorrow's End. He was my favorite character in the movie script, and brought everyone down a peg when crossing the desert. Or tried to, at least.   :lol

Not leaving Nightfall and Redlance behind.

Rayek becoming the king of the trolls. Or, the scene we saw that he was king of them.

What I did not like

Pike was a caricature of himself. Just silly and clumsy. Which is very sad.

Leetah. First we see her resurrect our favorite treeshaper. As it saves us the loss of him, I am very against someone having super powa to save a character. Second, her being damsel in distress. She had none of the fire in her. Just very passive. Oh, and the super sending because we are recognized and so very bonded made me grit my teeth.

Rayek becoming the ultimate EQ villain.

The effect of not fulfilling recognition was almost none.

In all, I'm very glad that it wasn't made into a movie.

I will most likely not upload the masks, since I'll might sell them on Desucon in Oslo. If I remember it, heh.

No, sorry i don't have any suggestions, it was just that my mind flipped a bit because Res is like, the last person I would ever imagine making a hybrid. Don't know why. Hmmm....

I'm working on drawing masks again, but will most likely not show them to anyone, since I might sell the drawings on Desucon next year. So I'll show you one which could be a very cool mask, if it was made. Won't sell this drawing, as it still qualifies as Homestuck fanart.

And one more, who I kind of forgot. She is a sort of religious servant who takes care of a temple. When people come to visit, she usually follows them around. She is lonely a lot, and when there s people around she has a constant grin on her face.

Idea of color

The colors are made with a blue Stabilo 0,4 mm pen and a blue Faber Castell Pitt pen.

Have some more art.

This was very quickly drawn when I should have gone to bed. It is a cougar leaping, as you can see.

I'm just posting a link since it is mature rated. More or less. Remember that blue skinned creature in first post? Their race is a little complicated. When they are born, their skin is red and very slowly they come blue. They are inspired by stars. According to what my school teacher in Science told me, the light we see from the stars is from the past. A red-white star means it is closer, therefore the light is younger than a blue-white. As a stargazer myself, I find that fascinating. So i used it.

Now, onto the piece itself. They come out in two categories, those with two horns and those with only one. This has nothing to do with genders. To make love, they connect their horns together. If you want children, one must be one with one horn, and one with two. Who bears the child depends entirely on who has the will to do so. In this case, it is the red one. They are old enough to do so when the base of their eyes are magenta/purple. By that time you have to do it on a regular basis. If not the horn will grow so big that you risk snapping your neck due to the weight. You will also get a lot of nasty comments both behind your back and to your face, since it is frowned upon.

I found one canon outfit of Snowman from Homestuck as an Exile, and tried drawing it. Only a headshot since I've lost my eraser.

Damn... Honey just happens to be my favorite character in the River Twine. (Yes, I lurk on your website...) Personally I'd love to adopt her, but aside from having a writers block, job applications and homework just has to be my main source of attention these days.  :(

I'm not religious, but i do feel the urge to cry out hallelujah! Minyah's "sexy" pose has proven a great challenge, as I've had a hard time figuring out which to use. Head-shot and action one was fairly easy to figure out. Now I found not only what pose to use but refference as well!  :woohoo

Well, it depends. What I do is to mark the text I want to use bold or anything on, then I click on the button I want. It will show up as    :[ b, i or u (bold, cursive, underline, depending on which button you click on) ]: Take away :, they are there to show them, many places these disappear.

If you want to change color at the text entirely, like here, you see the change color chooser and select which you want.
