I'm totally in for this! I like the idea of personal eq-world characters and also randomosity ehehe. :D As far as time goes, I'm up for whenever we decide to go for it. However I'm more worried about how long it takes for each of us to get done.

I'm a pretty slow artist so I wouldn't want to hold anyone up by taking too long to get finished.

Yes, I am still in too! I don't have a time-frame eheh.

Should we stick to personal characters or canon characters? I'm thinking we should go with personal?

That's awesome Maggie!

So... should we decide what direction to go in with the group drawing or just wing it was we go along?

Art and Elfquest / Re: [Tools of the Trade] - Inking
« on: January 30, 2013, 10:53:55 AM »
I'm not certain why 'handed-ness' should make a difference in smearing a work (or not). A right-handed person would typically start inking at the left upper or lower corner of their paper and work across. A left-handed person should probably work from the right upper or lower. And one can always cover their work with an elevated sheet or cardboard, as well.

Well, it's quite possible I do it wrong. :P I do use a blank sheet to elevate my hand but with liquid ink like india ink it doesn't make a difference, the page smears the ink quite as well as my hand does. Mechanical inks don't smear as easily so that's why I use them. I don't start at one side and ink to the other, though. I prefer to make strokes as long as I can for smoothness.

Name: Dawnswirl
Birth-tribe: Wolfriders
Parents: In flux atm.
Age: Young Adult

Appearance: Somewhat tanned for a wolfrider as the holt is a mixture of five tribes, hair is red and yellow at the same time, not like Ember's, but like the colors of sunrise, all mixed in together, it's fluffy and wavy and usually braided into one or two tails. Small hazel eyes, a straight nose and a boyish body type, very slender and not very lady-like.
Attire: Usually wears big shiny leather boots, a hat or scarf of some type and a skirt or dress with a sleeveless black top. Uses a lot of feathers to adorn herself. Wears furs in colder weather and a jacket, wears only her dress in warmer weather.

Role: Hunter/Storyteller in training
Skills: Hunting, gathering, music, specifically singing, stringed instruments and the flute. She is being taught by her Great grandsire Charmer to be the holt's new storyteller. Skilled at archery and swordplay; uses a longsword in combat but the bow to hunt.

Personality: Shy but strong in her convictions, she tends not to speak out in council meetings or the big gatherings of the tribes. A generally very happy elf who likes experiencing the world around her. She enjoys being around others, especially just sitting and listening to everything; songs, music, gossip, it doesn’t matter to her. Can’t dance to save her life. She has two really big left feet when it comes to that. Still, she enjoys parties and celebrations. She is starting to come out of her shell singing and storytelling but is still shy of performance. Prefers hunting in big groups, because she has a big fear of being separated from the others.
Background: (Mostly TBA) Bondbeast: Snowshag.

I use a variety of mechanical pens right now, a combination of Sakura microns and Pilot Precise pens. I have a wide range of sizes but I'm not very good at brush-like variation of widths. It's something I definitely need to try more. I've tried using pen-nibs and india ink but being left handed I tend to smear it which doesn't look so good.

I have one! It's http://evafortuna.deviantart.com I have some semi-EQ related stuff there as well as some of the art I've done for RiverTwine. The great majority of my EQ art was never scanned into the pc though, it's in a giant Rubbermaid tub under my desk. I think I needs make more.

Hi Hi Everybody!

I'm Gina Schroeder-Simpson. I've been in the fandom since about 96, when I joined the New (old!) EQ fan club and started to join some of the offline holts that were around back then. Since then I've been in and out of it, but I can't ever leave Elfquest for long. I've been part of most of the holts that are still around at one point or another. (coughs)

Anyhow. I just wanted to say hello! And Hi to people I have seen around the interwebs before I finally made it here!

Awe, I was wondering who took up Rainpace when I left (I'm Gina Simpson/Schroeder). Wish I had more time right about now. Darn you River Twine with your consistent awesomeness.
