:beer  You’ve been amazing for a long time.  Whatever you decide you gotta do, it’ll be the right thing.

Anyway, I still think I'll make it in time. I have to admit I am getting the hang of Adobe Sketch much faster than of Gimp...
*more sighs*

Have you checked out Procreate on your iPad already?  I found it to be really quick to learn, and in some ways more intuitive than some PC digital apps :)  It's usually available to play around with at most apple stores on their ipads, if you aren't comfortable paying € without knowing if you like it.

Why do you plan on moving that much? Just curious. I definitely moved too many times in my life.

We want to sell our house in the States and move to Finland, but we haven't narrowed down exactly which place in Finland (there are two top contenders). :P It's going to be something like:

1) move to short-term rental somewhere State-side
2) sell house
3) relocate to Kael's dads house Finland (kael inherited half of the house when his mum died, and his dad now lives in an apartment)
4) figure out the city we like best (or which offers one of us a job)
5) maybe move to a rental in that city?
6) buy/build house in that city
Done?!

I keep hoping the Fates will intervene with some happy solution that doesn't involve all that, but...you gotta do what you gotta do :) As jaRf said, we do consider ourselves fortunate that we are able to move like this. Though, tbh, I don't know for sure I get to keep my job. I just feel...it's a risk that worth it. Our skillset is in demand in Finland, so we think it's probably an OK risk.

So happy we are going to see that storyline come full circle :)

Maggie, I'm thinking about giving it a try this year. I'm running a bit of a test on myself this week to see if I have the chops to meet the deadline, so I'll confirm on Sunday whether I've got it in me :)

Update:

Newp, I don’t think my pace is going to be fast enough :( I’ll continue to play with the ideas I have, but I’m out of practice and spare time is minimal, so they’ll likely be something I keep pecking on for a future year.

Looks like a good place to post my "what I've been up to" return post, since that's, well, info about me :)  Since I last posted in 2015 it feels like a lot has changed, and I don't feel like quite the same person I was.

I live in New England (USA) these days, a decision that seemed like a good one at the time, but I have subsequently regretted. I left behind friends and a much-loved west-coast city because I am a northern barbarian who cannot handle heatwaves and forest fires. But...this part of New England turned out to not be North enough.  Climate change sucks. :(

But I'm not sure I would undo the choice, because it was being exactly where I was at exactly the right moment in time that led to the existence of my  perfect-in-every-way she-cub (cubling name of "Pidgeon").

I'm at that "who am I? what do I want?" stage that most new parents go through, but I'm pretty sure that books, roleplaying, drawing, and writing are still things I want to do when I grow up.

We have at least 1-3 moves left before us, then I plan to collapse on the earth and let little Pidgeon learn how to fly without the skies constantly changing on her.

Mudpaw being stupid! When everyone else in the pack was resting to prepare for the big move, Mudpaw’s AI kinda went bonkers and he slept like this! butt pointing towards the skies above!…

Bwahahaah, that's how human babies like to sleep...I wonder if some human AI logic snuck in...

F...Foxeye??? Yaaaaaaay!
*tackle hugs*

*fierce hug* Good to see you too :)

Well, well, I am surprised. I hope you won't vanish as silently and fast as you've shown up, Foxeye!

No promises, but I'll try :) Silence has become my coping mechanism, and it's a hard one to break out of.

Here's my previous logic for her age as being late-teens, early twenties:

Quote
*Crescent's first scene in "Wolfrider!" shows her to be in the beginning of puberty, likely 13-15, with her wolf-friend still a pup. When we next see her, a young human male has gone from pre-pubescence (likely 11-12), to young adulthood (facial hair, but still slightly coltish). Based on the changes to the human, I estimate 4-8 years have passed.

FWIW, the rules I posted above may not apply any more, since Maggie runs the show now.

That said, I think Tynami's site is a perfect place for the doll-artist sub-community. You guys have a great vibe, and I'd be sad to see it lost to the EQ community because the official forums are closing.

What Wildfire said. :)  I lurk and sometimes mutter a non-sequiter or two.

To be honest, I still haven't recovered from mourning the loss of the old blue-gray Scroll of Colors site. It was such a lovely, sprawling, easy-to-use online home.

I agree, it feels like a tribute to the incredible fan art community that EQ has, and it really warms my heart :) It's also been fun that for every piece that I remember/recognize, there's been something new.

Y'know....I have let myself get too caught up with making comments that are thoughtful and helpful. Performance anxiety would get me every time :p i take art critique so seriously that I freeze up.

But goshdarnit, I can just post short little "woooo, pretty!" and "love it!" things, so at least someone knows that I enjoyed their art!

Lifemate got a large-format printer, so the office/studio in our new house now has a wall o' elfquest ^_^ There's gonna be a wall o' junglefire, a wall o' photography, and a corner o' RPG characters.

I thought it would be weird to have my own artwork on the walls, but for a studio it works...sort of like a kick in the pants to keep doing art.

(And a kick in the pants to work at high res, because that printer shows every flaw *wince*  That's not even the biggest that monster printer can do... )

So glad that moving forward the Book Walkers no longer have to hide That Really Big Thing from the Unsullied.  My sister is now, alas, almost ready to give up on the show. We'll see if that notion sticks any better than Ned's head did ;)

I was definitely bawling my eyes out. Gotta say that Argus Filch makes Walder Frey such a joy to watch and hate.  All the bad guys in this show are done so well ^_^

FWIW, I'm using this guy these days:

Sony VAio Duo 11

The N-Trig digitizer it uses still has problems with pressure sensitivity in Photoshop (it's OK in Sketchbook Pro and Art Rage), but last I heard Wacom digitizer's under Windows 8 have the same problem (no wintab drivers), so I'm no worse off than if I went with a wacom-based systems. One upside of N-Trig over Wacom is that the cursor location is much more precise.

And the specs of the Sony make it an ultrabook, so I can use this system for tasks that require some muscle.

Here's a long video that compares the Sony to the Surface Pro: Microsoft Surface Pro vs Sony VAIO Duo 11 Comparison Smackdown

In related news, this blurb from Wacom's own FAcebook page has me excited:

Quote
"We’ve heard you shouting out loud for a Wacom mobile tablet for creative uses. Well… we’re listening. We’ve read your email and spoken to many about an on-the-go dream device. It will come. This summer. We’re working 24/7 on it. And yes, it has a real pressure-sensitive professional pen, smooth multi-touch, an HD display, and other valuable features that you haven’t seen in other tablets."

That. Would. Be. Fantastic.

I worked with David Banks of www.singleboundstudios.com...he collaborated with several binderies depending on the style of book someone wanted. I'd recommend him, except for him being semi-retired at this point. He's also retired the part of his website that talks about the techniques the different binding styles used :(

Sorry I can't be more helpful!
