I tried to capture the smiling effect Wendy does and it didn't work well for me. His head dress throws me off every time too. I'm definitely with you on liking Wendy's old art style.

This page was a nightmare, I resketched it 5-7 times , inked and redesigned 3 times.  It was just a bad ms week for me while I was working on it, I know I should have put it to the side and approached it later but I really need to learn to work through times like that. This page is getting a complete revamp soon.  I have so many circles on the mistakes find copy with this one that I can't see the artwork.   Work for Marvel comics back in 83'-85' as a multihands talent inker, DC on a inking internship for a few months ( speed was my downfall in the industry).  Did cell touch up for Harmony gold and Disney for a few months each, then went into magazine clipart illustration ( Circle, White Dwarf, Dragon, Playboy and so on.. Would have done better in life if I had gone to art school. Your 100% right that you miss so much on a piece your working on that other find easily, trust me I cringe a lot the next day looking at the stuff I post cause I see so much I missed.

You totally busted me, I got the idea from our mini gnome/faery grove out front by the tree, I based off the door that came with the set.  :)

Your very right about the shading. Actually I did shading but my scanner is not great so I have to play with contrast, variation and so on with every piece.  I lost some lighter shades of color trying to get the image to match the original art.  If I go the other way the colors become to harsh and bright, if that makes sense.  Wasn't sure if the dual space scene would work or not, originally I had it laid out in flat frames and it didn't look right so I tried this instead.  Still not happy but it'll do until I come up with something else.

The light touch of the water reflection is sweet.

Really love the details you put into your backgrounds, the feel of depth is very pleasing to the eye.

Hi Amber,  yup it's a ceremonial staff and a long time since I posted.  Jan 15 2013 I suffered a mini stroke (minor surface feeling loss and my hands shake just a lil when I'm tired)   which was brought on by the on set of MS, trust me it sounds way worse than it is,but I kinda dropped off the face of the earth till I got everything under control.  Got back to drawing in the fall and been working on improving my style, now it's good to be back to drawing and having fun.  Have to run to work now, I'll catch up with everyone later today.

My bad, name is corrected.  The dress was more of a problem for me trying to blend green and blue to try and get the right ( or at least closest too) dress color.

I tried to put a light twist into his body which gave me a bigger difficulty on the pose, when I was drawing I was mentally imagining the bow off the shoulders pulling the arms back which looks like I pulled to far back.  It's a little difficult I'm finding on the male elves, I use Wendy's art as my refs and she changes the body style through the years.  Best example (and easiest) is Cutter, in the early days his hips are near non existent the as she progresses he seams to take on a female hip flare...and he has either a flat but or near no butt.  I just have to keep the look consistant to the timeline imagery I'm working on to keep the guys looking right, yup I set the hips this time to low now that I'm looking at it better.  I went with the light smile cause I wanted him to look older and 'softer' , he was always a tough guy up till the hidden forest timeline.  I thought it would be cute like Wendy's panel of Strongbow, Moonshade and with Tyleet saying she going to sing about them at the howl of them doing it.   Having fun and getting better with every pic I post with everyones help, stay tuned cause there is more to come.

Yup the hair is a littleredder than I was going for but that was an oops on my partas I grabbed the wrong base color.  I did think about going over it with a light beige or tan to see if I could tone it down to Wendy's comic colors.  Your right that she looks like Leetah , I think if I had done the bangs differently she would have turned out better.   Your advise to pay more attention to the EQ body style has definitely paid off for me, while I had spurts of free time I grabbed a sketch book and just started doing mannequine sketches of Wendy's character forms sheets.  Now it feels and looks more EQish as I draw.

Yup, about 4-6 months to heal, they only gave me 2 days off and it was back to work with a light bandage wrap and aleve.  It is feeling better, work isn't so bad but my kitten (who are now 14weeks+) tend to jump on me to play and thats a bigger ouch than work is.  I really luv workicouldg in gray tones but this pic turned out rather well and just screamed for color.  I wasn't sure about trying to put so much movemnet into the pic but it seemed to work out ok, an I just noticed the shading of her right nipple is off...grrrr.  It seems I always mess up somewhere that I don't catch, well taht means practise, practise, practise which means more art to come.
