In Wavelet by Christina Raibert - Posted Apr 11, 2015
Thanks so much for the wonderful comments, guys :) Yeah, it's a pity the late WD episodes were never colored. I remember Cathy Purchis of the WaveDancers Who's Who stating that the then-writer for Wavelet's segments (Vickie Murphy? Am I correct?) had described her as a ginger-haired blue-eyes, so I went with that. But I gave her the same intense blue eyes of Brill and Krill to reflect the waves in her name :) Poor lost little girl, it must have been so though for her. Her story was kind of a reverse take on Little Patch - never knew any of her kind, was welcomed into another tribe's from early childhood and grew up knowing only that life. But her awakening to the truth was so much harsher... I hope, if she ever makes a cameo back in EQ (but I doubt she will, other than the mention in FQ Special) that she might cross paths with Ember's Wolfriders. She and Tingeh probably would get along well.
In Brill by Christina Raibert - Posted Apr 11, 2015
Thanks guys! It was a lot of work, and I *still* haven't got that headpiece of hers 100% right - but I *might* have nailed it with the next picture (yep... I'm working on *even more* WaveDancers artage!)

As several of you have keenly pointed out, this is "Turning Tide" era Brill :-D  As for what she's looking at... it's my take on her reaction to the Recognition of Skimback and Sandsparkle. I imagine she and Skimback were just having an ordinary day together when his eyes met Sandsparkle's. And for poor Brill, it must have indeed felt like the life she had known and cherished all along was going to be shattered by the force of a "land-smasher wave", as Spine put it. Like all the things she had taken for granted - that she and Skimback would become lifemates, and she would be the mother of his child - were slipping from her fingers. The fish is symbolic - he can swim away, but she can't. Not from this. Poor Brill! *huggles*
In Zephyr by Christina Raibert - Posted Apr 11, 2015
Wheeee, I'm so glad you guys like my take on Zephy! :D I really wish EQ had done / will do more with this guy, he had so much potential. Just imagine what kind of precious advisor he could be to Snakeskin. Plus, he was definitely good looking! ^_^

@ Startear - It was your pic that gave me the idea of the colors! :D For a long time I had envisioned him as a blonde (since the only colored picture of him was Cathy Purchis's attempt)... but then I saw your version and thought that the WaveDancers *could* and should use more silver hair! And blue and green is a great combo for his outfit. Moss-green to move with greatest stealth in the forest, and a nodd to his WaveDancer origins in the blue headband ^_^

@ jarf - Oh yeah! Totally sounds like something Zephyr would advertise! :D

(Somehow I can't shake the image of Rayek's smug grin if he saw this XD)

I've got to say that the white hair looks uber-cool on Venka! Wouldn't it be cool if a child of hers and Two-Edge had her warm skin-tone and daddy's hair color? (Although I get the feeling the black hair genes would be stronger... considering there's so many black-haired elves in both parents pedigree; Rayek, Winnowill, Ingen, Haken... then again, elf genetic might very well work in mysterious ways XD)

Thank you so much! ^_^

@Treefox - yeah, considering who Korafay's father is, I think she would have an all special link with the spirits of the Palace and if her sending abilities are nowhere near daddy, then she could communicate with gramps as well as if they had been alive ^_^

I took pains to get Brill's expression right so I'm ultra happy you like how she turned out! :D

OH MY GOODNESS VENKA AS CRUELLA!!! 8D This. Wins. At. Life!!
In Proud Grandparents - Posted Aug 03, 2014
Thank you so much Startear :) Yep, I always preferred Brill's color scheme as it was in "Turning Tide", with the coral-red counterpart to Krill's flaming red suit. I think it brings out her hair and skin much better than bronze-brown, and whenever I think of her it's that color scheme I envision (oh yeah, and ear shape too. Not that the way Wendy draws her ears is bad, but I liked that in close-up details the WD ears were originally shaped to resemble different kinds of shells - this especially true when it was Steve Blevins drawing them, other artists had an harder time nailing the design...)

And Farbright totally deserved some spotlight time, hehe ;)
In Proud Grandparents - Posted Aug 02, 2014
Thank you so much :) It's been ages since the last time I drew group pictures of more than two characters so it's always a fun challenge to experiment with composition and making them interact ^_^ This one was so special for me because I really wanted Korafay to know her grandparents, if only in spirit. So glad you like how it turned out! :)
In Farbright - Posted Apr 13, 2014
OHMYGAWD it's Farbright!! :D *dances*
She's perfect! Love how you captured her love of sparkly things and overall playfulness! The body shape, the tail, the costume, everything is spot on! And her pose is so natural :luvlove: Thank you so very very much, I adore her! :)
Soon as I get my home pc back, maybe I can draw something to thank you for this lovely Farbright pic? :D
In Tumble - Posted Mar 15, 2014
Cute Tumble! He has the perfect lanky look for a young WaveDancer who spends a lot of time getting in troubles. His dad's pretty hair is also very well done too :D And I love how you gave him Spine's distinctive eyebrows! Tumble will become such a hunk when he's older... and I could totally see him paired with Chitter/Freetouch ^^
In Salt - Posted Mar 15, 2014
You made even Salt look hot! :D I love how natural the pose of the fish-tail is, he really seems to be floating in the water. And his expression is so fatherly and gentle *_* I totally believe he's looking at your pic of Spray, before they swim toward a romantic sunset together. And the palette you have used works even better than the one in the comics... watery, otherworldly and suffused with the play of light over a very long life. I want mooooore! :D
In Puffer & Redcrest - Posted Mar 15, 2014
*picks up jaw from the floor* ... sorry, nevermind me, I'm.... just... in... awe....
Darn, his lifemate Pearl was one LUCKY gal! :love And just as in the pic of Korafay I can see both his sons in him which is awesome. Love little Puffer being all proud and mimicking his grandpa behind his back! Teee heee! :D
On the Scroll of Colors on EQ.com there was this talk on how he maybe does the hair of the other WaveDancers (since his hair keeps switching through the series from short & straight to long & curly)... well seeing this picture I totally wish he was doing my hair  ;) :lol
In Spray by Leigh Davis - Posted Mar 15, 2014
*jaws drops, and drops and drops* Fantastic take on Spray! It's so her... the squar-ish face, the frizzy curls, the details of her outfit down to that wise, maternal look she always has to her.  :hail Awesome work!
In Korafay - Posted Mar 15, 2014
YAY! Happy happy, joy joy! :D
Requests... well if you wouldn't mind too terribly drawing the "royal family" Sunstream, Brill and Korafay ^_^ Or maybe Haze and/or Farbright? These are just my favorites but really, I love all the WaveDancers so any of them you decide to draw will make me a super ultra happy happy camper ^_~
Off to check your WD art :) Man, I've been away from EQ fandom for so long and missed so much awesome stuff!
In Korafay - Posted Mar 15, 2014
Awww, Korafay! She's so precious! :D I love how you managed to capture the essence of both her parents; soulful like her father and kind-hearted like her mother. And I know I've stressed it everywhere, but I absolutely adore Korafay's green hair because I see it as an indirect proof that Haze is indeed the father of Brill *g* Will you draw more WaveDancers if I look at you with puppy eyes? Come to the WaveDancer side of the Force, we have cookies! :D
In Pearl - Posted Nov 13, 2013
Will do! ;)
In Pearl - Posted Nov 10, 2013
Thanks Yavia, you're too kind!  :hail I'm glad you like how she turned out! :)

Re: five fingers, the fifth is actually the line of her shoulder ;) My bad for not drawing the hand until it merges with the wrist - it really gives the effect of a fifth finger now that you point it out  ;D Ah well, one thing to fix when I color her :)
In Solitaire - Now and Then - Posted Nov 09, 2013
Thanks!  :D I'm really glad the new version turned out well, I'll be taking the challenge with some others really old pictures I found in that folder - geez, I didn't remember half of them!

Woah... from 1984?  :o That would be pretty amazing to watch. Looking forward to it :)

As for Solitaire and PK, I don't think you'll have to tell her twice  ;)  :lol
In Pearl - Posted Nov 06, 2013
Thanks! :D I really dig her character too, I think I'll draw more of her ^^ It was fun trying to come up with a tail that would be just "hers" and the dorsal fins seemed a good idea :)
In Solitaire - Now and Then - Posted Nov 06, 2013
Haha thanks, the nouveau her is very proud of the shiny hair XD I nicknamed her the l'Oreal Elf because she seems about to do the hair swish thingy and it's hilarious! :roflmao:

MSPaint was my tool of the trade back then - add to it that I didn't even have a pressure-sensitive tablet but just a mouse, so it wasn't very easy to control. Oh well - glad my art *and* tools have improved with time! :D
