!!ATTENTION!! This GAME iS OVER!! info below is no longer valid, accepting no more players as I am playing solo to figure the rules out better!
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Okay! let's start this! I will be the GM (Game master, the one who runs the game) This is a soft-core RPG so EVERYONE is invited! Here is the game http://www.elfquestfanart.com/index.php?topic=430.0 (http://www.elfquestfanart.com/index.php?topic=430.0)
this game is also a practice of trust, you can lie and the only consequence is YOUR loss of enjoyment... Dice rolling is not necessary but can be helpful, if you don't have a dice nearby you can roll one at any of the multiple "online dice rollers" (just write that to google and you'll find one) if you roll a dice you need to write the number before your character action. example "5. Marut tries to open open the latch" two times a week I will count all the numbers and IF all the numbers combined are bigger than a number I say before a scene, you unlock a new area! if not, nothing bad happens, you simply fail to open more stuff near the Holt... and since this is a test, no one can die in this game...
Here is one online dice roller, I've set things up for you so you can just click "roll again" to roll your dice https://www.random.org/dice/?num=1 (https://www.random.org/dice/?num=1)
So? are people interested? you can tune in whenever you want and leave if you feel so, no one is forcing you to stay. A couple of times a week the game moves forward, and I would LOVE seeing characters interact with one another! just no sex or gore, and please, be nice...
Those interested can write here the character they play! it can be a cannon character or your own character (or even you in EQ form). if you have any questions ask away!... and don't feel intimidated, it's all going to be very laid back and simply fun!..
Speaking and stuff
easy ways to separate speaking, action, sending and off game (stuff directed to me, like questions), happens like this...
- Action, stuff that character does, body language and such...
Marut strenches as he stands up from the old nest, he was sleeping in...
- Speaking, stuff that character says...
"That sure was a good nap! well, better start hunting soon!.."
- Sending, stuff that character sends, you have to specify if it's a closed sending or an open sending...
Strongbow's closed sending reaches only Cutter..
¤You know, I sometimes hate your guts...¤
Strongbow's sending reaches all...
¤Everyone to Cutter! he needs our help!...¤
- Offgame, something you need to ask me or other players that is not part of your characters action, speaking or sending...
(Hey guys! my character really needs to pee! where do they go to take a leak?)
So that's that! hope you found that useful!...
And again, the RULES!
- Be nice to others
- No killing, gore or sexual stuff (prey animals can be hunted but please keep the violence at minimum)
- Go throw a dice in some online dice thrower if you feel like it, but you don't have to!

-
they are dice rolls! people who want to throw them, they can! but they are not necessary really, they just help people "unlock" new areas from the mist, but if you don't want to bother rolling dice you can just play! come on! give it a try! with dice or without!...
-
I'll join! I'm going to play Laluna. To make things easier (and maybe more interesting?), I'm going to play "clean slate", meaning that Laluna doesn't know anybody beforehand, not even Marut! This means her background is also unknown.

Questions!
1. So did I understand correctly, that the dice roll total resets after every week?
2. If the total doesn't add up at the end of the week, do we lose the specific "reward" (like, finding something new at the holt) forever, or can it be achieved later?
3. How many times can a player throw the dice in a week? Or is it just once/week?
-
Thanks for asking! let me clear things up...
1: yes, the dice rolling event resets weekly.
2: The tribe can achieve the lost reward some time later. if the total of the group dice roll adds up then the tribe gets a new area to explore and adventure in, otherwise they get nothing or might sometimes find items or such to use as they wish.
3: The player can throw a die once per character every week.
-
I also have a question for the players, should I bring the cannon Elfquest characters to this game as NPCs?... (Non-Player characters, meaning characters that I use)...
-
Thanks for clearing things up, Berit! I'm okay with canon characters, though I'd really like to see more players, too! ;D
-
I'm tempted to give it a try, but i'm always intimidated by RP stuff as I have no experience with it.
Also not good with coming up with characters. Isn't there some kind of worksheet to roll for different character traits? Is that around here somewhere?
-
No need to be intimidated! I've made this as beginner friendly as possible... and only character sheets you need are the ones you see in this post! I'd actually advice you to create your character's appearance first, in your head or by drawing, what ever feels more natural... some times the personality of a character comes the instant you visualize him/her... and if it doesn't, as scary as it sound, just bring the character in the game, greatest characters I've known have been created this way.. you let the character grow at his/her own pace...
And don't worry about goofing up, were here to help you out, not swat you down. here is emptied out list you can fill once you have ideas/character gets stuff (skiils, possessions etc) in game, you can just copy paste it and fill it at your own pace. just know we will be more than happy to have you on board!

Yes!!! More characters the merrier! If you can handle playing with multiple characters, and there is no reason not to try, if it doesn't work out you can always put one on hold and play them seperately, just iform other players about character being on hiatus by noting that character vanished in the mist or that he/she is too busy to be bothered...
Huzzah for bigger tribe!...
-
so question about unlocking the new area, do i roll once for myself as the player, or two i roll twice for my two characters?
or does roll for the characters only apply outside unlocking events and stuff? i just want to clarify so i know i understand.^^
-
You can roll for every individual characters you have for the group activity, the more characters get involved, the easier it is to find a new place with new items and den places and so on!...
You may also roll dice (if you want) even if it isn't a group activity when your characters are just hanging about, then they can spot smaller items, prey animals or interesting twigs, stones, stuff like that!... stuff that I'd love the character to interact with! (Tidemist threw 6 underwater so she found the Snapjaw and scales and stuff even as it was not a group activity, lots of stuff because six is a biggest number on the type of dice we are using! if she had thrown 1, she would not have found anything that time)...
-
Oh cool okay! So i'll post, and roll for Tidemist and Vaeri when i get home.
And chatacters during a non group activity can only roll once per week, which is defined as monday through sunday?
-
Yup! during that time they may find extra stuff! and the stuff is location bound, the water stream had different things for you to find than the tree or the dreamberry patch... happy hunting!...
-
I think we might need a kind of timeline for the rpg, like main events listed somewhere. It would be easier for new players, so they wouldn't necessarily need to read through the whole thread. Especially if this grows at this pace! ;D
-
I agree! Should we make a seperate forum post for it?...
-
perhaps a google document with a link from this rules thread? somewhere like near the link to the die roller. i would suggest a timeline in a spoiler tag, but this website doesn't have the spoiler option....man that thing can be useful....
-
I can try that, I could put there what character joined and when... not sure if I'm good at making a timeline, but we'll see!...
-
was i the only one who had to look up on youtube to find out what a fox scream sounded like? XD those things are loud, wow!
-
They can! but not nearly as irritating than a bunch of mating season bull moose constantly hitting their antlers together and moaning, those voices are not sharp but travel surprisingly far and they can last through day and night.. or Red-necked grebes calling each other, they are often silent but can sound like a party of drunkards having a fight just below your window!...
... And all those drunkards have a bad case of flu!...
-
i'm guessing these are daily annoyances for you, aren't they? XD now i wanna look up these Red necked Grebes....party of fighting drunkards....XD
-
Well! still better company and less annoying and less noisy than human neighbors if anyone asks me!...
-
just gonna make a note here for myself and anyone who might be interested/curious, these are the seasonings Vaeri has with her. all of these herbs are dried. they are contained in little jars with a clamp-top type of lid. the jars hold equal to 1 1/2 cups worth of herbs. they're probably like our seasoning containers, skinny and tall.
Salt
Sweet Marjoram
Oregano
Thyme
Rosemary
Chili powder- powdered mixture of various dried chili peppers
Sage
Garlic- finely diced and dried
Fennel
Mint
-
Okay! Thanks for adding this, it will surely be useful information for the cooks in the tribe!
-
The Game has ended! thanks to all who were involved!...
