I think this is probably the most unexpected character to ever make it into the calendar. I do admire your ability to think outside of the box when choosing a character to work with.

Fun addition to the calendar! She somehow seems less...er..troll-like in this, and there's a strange serenity in her praying (or would that be preying?). I actually think you've done her a lot more justice than her image from the series. The limited color palette also fits the mood of this.

This is so original! And she's definitely an elder! The colors are wondrous! So warm and the feel of a crayon drawing adds a mystery to this whole pic. She does seem like the real deal. LIke the Shaman she was supposed to be. She really looks like someone to consult about life choices, destiny and the will of the spirits.

Interesting, a rare character and also the technique looks a little like crayons or something, something that could also have been used in ancient times for wall-paintings.

Thank you guys! While I love Elfquest, the way that they treated the Shaman characters were not the best to say the least. The Bomewoman in particular seems more like a politician clinging to her power than a medium between the spiritual world and ours. Since her name is Bonewoman, I assume she uses bones in some way, not just as fashion choice XD so I looked into what cultures use bones, and found that in the Americas there are tribes that lay deer scapula on fire, and use a drum. I was thinking of adding some symbols to the drum, but was afraid that it would be aproperiation.

Originally I was going to have her teaching her craft to a younger member of her tribe, reskinned after my first idea of Old Magotty teaching Trinket. However we never saw The Bonewoman interact with any kids, so I was bordering on worldpooling. So instead I made a few changes to my imagery. The biggest issue I had working on this was the damn size adjustments. For some reason it gave me so much trouble, lol. Thank you again Maggie for letting me participate, looking forward to the next few years =D

This looks like a drawing made with chalk on a cave wall. Really nice touch and so athmospheric! I wonder if she is doing a ritual just for herself or if she has an audience.
