Meow! Meow! A wonder kitty isn't lying down directly on the plate and begging for attention. Is that the baker elf woman from Sorrow's End? It looks very relaxed, something a lot of us probably miss. Gramma making bread, without any rush and Kitty is purring besides.

I agree with Yavia; your work has something extra, like it's really a study of the art. Especially the colours!
I love this little scene you've created for this unnamed baker. :)

This is so brilliant! I really do love your art. It is like real Art for me.
The shade of the vase is so cool - it's like only half and I absolutely adore that! For the kitty I would not mind if it was a leaf of bread. That was my first impression and I really liked that. But real Kitty's are much better!
Her expression is a total spot on and she really looks at what she is doing. That's great! Also like the oven, somehow it seems to me like art of Gustav Klimt.
For your reason to pick her I absolutely love that! It adds a great touch to it!
Thank you so much for this lovely picture of her!

I have to admit that at first, I was a little sad to see my image at the bottom, as I could quickly gather that it meant that I hadn't made it this year. I did a lot of work on the composition and tried to make her work space as inviting and practical as possible. But taking more tine to examine everyones work made me realize that we all busted our asses to make this calendar as great as possible.

My main thought when I picked the Baker was that most of us baked obscene amounts of bread during the first round of lockdown, so it just popped into my mind that it would be funny to have her in the calendar. I also added the kitty last minute. It ultimately gave me the most trouble, as the blue shading made the cat green... so I had to paint it over with gouache and used pastel pencils to make sure the paint couldn't reactivate. And man, didn't even notice the bunny bread before y'all mentioned it! Haha, hooray for happy accidents.

I prefer it when there are only 12 entries so everyone gets in the calendar but for 2021 that wasn't the case. Still, anyone submitting should be proud of their work, everyone did such an amazing job. I'm always drawn to the narrative of your work, Startear. There's always a story to be told and I absolutely love that. Plus, I'm a sucker for traditional mediums, I don't use them anymore but I adore seeing them used by others. Thank you for being a part of the calendar year after year. I can't wait to see what you have in store for the next one.

Maybe it's what became of Jirda's bunny.  I was really excited to see you had chosen the Baker, since most of the other choices I had seen were of characters that have been given at least SOME time in the spotlight, but she definitely has not.  I know there was some discussion on websites about her name and a little basic history, but I like that you have chosen to depict her enjoying her task, eager to complete a new bread batch.  The details of the desert cat and the oven in the background really add to the overall image and feel of this.

Yesssss!! We definitely need more Baker art out there! And more Sandcats? Desert Cats? This is such a calming and inviting scene. The colors are wonderful! So warm! I just want to sit there in a corner and watch her do her bread magic. Just imagine the smell.... You chose great colors and lighting for this. Lovely, lovely skin tones!
