I was inspired by the recent calendar theme of lesser characters and have drawn several of the background elves that had little screen time. Up first is Talmah, the chosen lifemate of Serrin and in a tri-mating with Dart, and a father to Bowki. I never thought he was given much justice, even if a background character.

I actually use color pencils, grease pencils, and the rare pen. I think the stippling is due to cheap paper or maybe the tooth of the paper being altered when copied (I make copies of everything before I color it in just in case). I'm not even sure if I still have crayons or where they might be if I did. I used three different colors for the skin, some tend to "lay" on the paper more effectively than others. The frill/fringe on the boots might be a mistake. It was hard to tell if that was fringe or lines to indicate something in the background. As far as I recall, Talmah was in maybe a maximum of four or five panels, basically looking the same - bland. Really, REALLY bland. Or maybe a hastily slapped together muppet.

Indeed, the skin rendering looks interesting. It looks like crayon but I wonder how one would do that, more like dotting insted of strokes?

I like this idea! And gee, he looks haaandsome! You do such wonderful skin colors.
He did only appear in a couple of panels right? |
