Our Holt #13: Lilac

In the tradition of Mirror and her stunning art, "Our Tribe," I was inspired to do similar. Initially, I was going to group them as Mirror has, but then I got lazy trying to get everyone organized (especially since some do not have heights listed) and complicated because I kept the individual illos large. I also wanted to draw characters that haven't had a lot of time in the spotlight, for the most part. As always, the scanner just doesn't do the colors justice, but at least you can get an idea of what I was going for. I already have about a dozen characters drawn, but I intend to color them all instead of inking them. Takes longer, but I just felt like trying to do it. I hope I've done everyone justice, but if I haven't, let me know and I'll make the corrections. And if anyone would really like to see what I can do with their character(s), contact me. Up now is Startear's Lilac.

Sleek and elegant! I find it hard to achieve such a beautiful saturated black with colored pencils. Nice pose and an allover very handsome character!

Such a grumpy and serious young man. I love his pose and expression, he looks like he'd like to relax, but can't. Very fitting from what I remember!

Oh, my goodness! I never, ever expected anyone to draw my guy! And you drew him so well! I love his pose, how he is holding that taught defensive but also kinda cocky pose! And oh man, I live the colors on the rocks! Thank you, thank you!

You're very welcome, Startear! He was a little bit of a challenge; had to color a second copy since I didn't think I did a good enough job on the first one. But as long as the end result is approved! I imagined he would be sort of defensive, cocky, and standoff-ish, which is why I chose that pose. Glad you like him!

Nilla: Thank you very much! From what I read, he has good reason to be a very serious, grumpy guy.

Treefox: two words regarding a saturated black: grease pencil. I used a black grease pencil, karat black color pencil to smooth it out, and a medium blue for highlighting.
