Aw, so in the end Teir actually got the perfect bond and his dreadful past and future can't get to him anymore. Clueless Teir looks really hot! :D Again, it looks like so much work went into this! The big cat is actually really cute!

Your work is always full of such rich storytelling. Teir is kind of a meh character for me but you make him seem interesting, like maybe I should go back and reconsider.

You have a way of making humorous illustrations so effortlessly! Now I must go and admire all the little details you've sneaked in. :)

@all thanks!

Yes, it was a bunch of work. Definitely not effortless ;) More like 100 - 200 h of work I'd estimate.
The storytelling usually comes with the picture as ideas strike me while I work. This year I was fairly uninspired (and I had some important real life priorities) so I said I'll only do some fallback thingy, in case people drop out. But slowly one idea came to the next. Iirc. until early summer I only had Teir and the cat done (since someone mentioned animal bonds during topic discussion).
And I think it is even one of the less humorous things I did, even though I like to slip some homour in. :) At least it should have some serious background here.

Clueless Teir is hot because I was too lazy (ran out of time) drawing the fur. Originally I had intended him to be in the winter furs of Wild Hunt. :) But I still have to practise fur cloth and it takes time.

Why "meh"? I think he's got quite some background. Okay, maybe some of FQ's revelations were... well, not expected. And maybe some mystery should have been kept.
At least from the topic perspective he's quite torn but also held by the various bonds - his animal "kinship" but on the other hand the elven tribe and esp. Ember, his past with the overwhelming Kahvi, that pulls the strings even though she's already dead - and the possible future where Winnowill tried to get hold of his powers.

100-200 hours?? Holy smokes, you have a level of patience that I could never even strive for! That's incredible.

The result is really lovely, I'm particularly keen on the snake tongue & braid wrapping around him, that's a cool way of tying the past/future together. The snake looks scary but in a very cool way that jiives well with the image.

(and I agree with your FQ comment, some things definitely should've been left mysterious)

I sure can see all the work you did.  Wow, so much on one page.  Everything works together in a circle -braids and snake tongue- how apropos for symbols in Tiers life.  I love the cat and the mountains they also say things about the future and the past bonds to me. Great color and format, you always surprise us JaRf. Wonderful.

Thanks! :D

Well, the hours include also sitting in front of the screen and hesitating, trying to find inspiration, deleting and re-doing things and so on.
For the snake I though of a mix of Winnowill and some of her creatures she sent upon the tribe or used them to control the human settlement.
