Silent Vigil
by branchscamper
On the Scroll of Colours Siwanll asked me to draw a piece of art with Khavi and Vaya in it ^^ I had a lot of thoughts in my head for this piece and then the other night this one popped up.
Kahvi mentions her furs have "been stained before with warriors' blood" and I imagined Vaya is the type to jump into things, even stuff like if a fellow tribemate is facing a snow bear or something she would jump into help, not realizing her actions until she is in the middle of them. I don't consider it recklessness, just honourable. And there probably isn't a Go Back that hasn't suffered various multiple wounds anyway.
I also think Kahvi cared about Vaya. It's mentioned Vaya never saw her mother cry while she was alive, but I don't think that meant Kahvi was uncaring towards her. Considering the tribe it wouldn't be a good thing for the Chieftess to appear soft. But if Kahvi cried for her at her death that shows a depth of caring. So I imagined this picture of that portrayal of caring. Vaya being unconscious never saw that side of her mother, but it's still there. Although I almost imagine Kahvi thinking "Stupid child...there you go again..." XD
Sorry for the long explanation It's not meant to be a discussion of how I see the characters or anything like that...just what I thought while drawing this =D
B/W piece done in black ink.

Aww, that's very sweet - and yes, I totally can see that, too.
I really like the choice of b/w - very clear lines and you did a very good job with the shading. |

You did a great job capturing the mood and overall image of Kahvi. And - FINALLY! - someone drawing Vaya, one of my personal favorite female characters! The explanation was worth it; just added to the overall image.
