If Only...

Story behind this one....hrm, well, artistically it was one of those odd pieces that just grabbed me, made me love it, and wouldn't let go. Though I did get crosseyed about the time I had to do the leaves, so they look a bit like foxeye-shmoo. But I still love this piece.
And why? Well, colors for one. But mostly for the characters and what it represents. Crescent died young. Probably barely into her 20s. Centuries later her parents have a second daughter Chitter. And it just made me sad that the two sisters would never meet. ElfQuest has several cases of brothers, and quite a few brother/sister combos, but only TWO instances of sisters. It's just not a dynamic they show much of. And I'm pretty keen on the sister idea, being close to my own.
So, as fans are likely to do, I drew one huge honking "What if?". What if Crescent were alive? And I extrapolated what her hyper kid sister would be like a bit older. And stuck 'em together. Heeee, cuteness. *hugs the pretty elfies*
Oh, and commentary on Crescent's sash. Everyone has extrpolated she'd have been a pretty spiffy archer like her dad. But she has boobs. So I decided that her quiver holder would also be a boob-get-out-of-the-way-er. Seemed logical.

Aww, I especially like the portraits though the little details like Chitter's dirty feet are great, too!
If I may comment on one thing, though: The sash keeping the boob out of the way only works if Crescent is left-handed ^^'. Otherwise it's the wrong side - it would need to be the side holding the bow. But it's still pretty  .

I just love giddy Chitter in this one.
The way she and Crescent are posing, it's like she's a kitten saying "Cuddle me! Purrrr" and Crescent complying. |
