Practice art of the day. Profile series. Created on Canson stock with Copic multiliners and sketch markers.
Wish my scanner was better, had a hard time matching up to the original art. I think I did this face to chiseled and not the round softness of the books. Still I am happier with the results than in my past version of him. Do know if its me but he looks too real than comic, if that makes sense.

His face might look a little too strong for Skywise, but I think it's mostly in the shading of his cheek here; Skywise doesn't have those high cheekbones most elves tend to have, so there shouldn't be shading there. This makes his face appear too narrow (even seen from the side). He also has a down-turned nose. It's something I know, because it has been mentioned in the comics, and it's what Oddbit liked most about him.
I like this "real" look of him though, but I'm partial to more earthy elves anyway. I've just read Final Quest volume 1, and I feel everyone looks too magical. I get it's part of the story, but I so dig Wendy's old style more. |

I tried to capture the smiling effect Wendy does and it didn't work well for me. His head dress throws me off every time too. I'm definitely with you on liking Wendy's old art style.

That head piece throws me everytime, too! Never could get that right within the frame of the face. I agree with Afke in that Skywise's cheeks are wide, low, and much softer and fuller than most of the other elves (except Pike), but the chin narrows into a point. His nose does downturn. And I could be off here, but aren't his eyes grey? The drawing itself is really good, though. Maybe he's had Leetah make some changes!
