Okay, my entry for winter in the art challenge. This is supposed to be Wavecatcher from the Wavedancers. I still can't get those silly High Ones' body types down. Just too damn skinny. I imagined he'd be draped in furs, clutching them to stay warm as he traveled into unknown territory, experiencing his first winter. I also assumed his clothes would be loose to accommodate his fins; being pressed tightly to the body by clothing would be really uncomfortable. Anyway, I think he'd be looking over his shoulder, wondering if he was making the right decision to wander from his warm, watery holt, but he'd resolve to keep on trucking into the strange new lands. I don't think I was very successful with him; the reference illo I used was different from the comic series. Wish I'd seen that first. Ah well. Honestly, I don't think I was successful with any of them, but hey - gave it a try.

And talk about composition! Nicely done! I wouldn't have recognized Wavecatcher even if it would have been original art, though. I never truly read that arc. He looks like a hunk in your version, though! There is true drama in this stepping from the light into the shadows of the dark trees. It really looks like a cold night! And he looks quite heroic in it.

Thank you, ladies! I had a difficult time trying to get a good idea of what Wavecatcher looks like, so I just merged whatever I could find. Of the three I've completed, this actually is my least favorite. I didn't read much of the stories featuring him, but I did remember seeing him in several illos here and there. I honestly just wanted to draw characters that didn't get much time in the spotlight, and he certainly is one.
