My first semi-real EQ fanart. For though Nightfall is in focus, I made this pic more for Redlance. He´s usually shown as the "weak" in this relationship. Some people even say that they don´t understand why fierce Nightfall is in love with such a "sissy". I think they don´t understand neither of them. I wanted to show how Redlance´s charme enchants and comfords, yet captures her. He´s the one who slowly, gently enwines around the heart he admires to hold it as tight as no one else could. In fact, he enchanted Nightfall so much, she couldn´t help but force her soul to recognize him. On the other hand, I think it speaks for Nightfall to choose the subtile, sensitive one over any tough, cool guy. When reading EQ for the first time, I immediately fell in love with those two and the kind of love they share.

Man, this is some gorgeous stuff! All of the pieces you've posted so far are (I'll catch up with my commenting eventually), and I love seeing the various styles you use. Each is lovely in its own way. I really like these pieces in the "realistic" style, though -- I don't always find "realistic" renderings of the elves to work for me, but these totally do!

It´s a kind of passion of mine to draw my favourite comic characters this way. Somtimes (like with manga characters) it´s quite hard, but Elfquest works great with me. Also, I love to experiment and try out different styles for a change. I´m glad you like them and feel honored by the praise. ^^ |

I love the peaceful quality in this, and both their gazes. It just makes me sigh.
 Redlance's missing hand bothers me though. If he's folding his hand over his leg, at least the wrist should still be visable. |

@afke: The hand was indeed a hard point in this. I drew it several times but it never looked good. At some point I was tired of it and just left it like this. ^^° |

I think this is a sweet and intimate moment between them... I never saw Redlance as a sissy, more like a person who has the same timidness and sweetness as a deer that allow's you to be near, and though deers first instinct is to run away from danger, no one wants to make them use their horns that can turn into deadly weapons. and besides! opposites always attract each other! I think nightfall might have had more aggressive and testing relationship with someone who is more of a warrior...
But anyway! very nice drawing of these two! thank you for sharing it with us!.. |
