Wow--that is cool! what did you sculp the original out of and did you make your own mold?

I used to work at a foundry that produce bronze sculptures. I was one of the wax-chasers. (the person who fixed the wax copy of flaws and put it back together to look like the original before the bronze was made.) I'd be interested in seeing a tutorial for something like this...just saying.

I especially like his face here. Nice.

Ayoorah   MIDNIGHT  !   I used Super Sculpey for the original.  I payed a professional to do the Molds.  I helped make the Silicon Molds;  Which meant staying out of the way and Not asking the 200 questions I had.  I know how to make the molds but did not have the hand strength to jewel cut them out of the pour.  Or the wonderful Shop for all the air compressor machines.  *Sigh*    Someday

Ya, I have done lost wax in College.  Didn't like how much work it took to take off the sprews and then grind the piece back to it's original sculpted shape.  Resin pour is easier than a Crucible pour.  It needed less air holes .    We  popped them out warm and cleaned them as we went.    I still have a bronze Petalwing that has not been cleaned yet from 20 years ago !   Even then, as now, I had used ELFQUEST as a learning tool to advance my skills in Artist endeavors.

Lately I have been trying to figure out the skeletal structure for the WoTM universe.  Wendy said at  WesterCon 52  that  'only'  at the eye  bridge was there a difference between elf and human.  She is mostly right.

I cannot believe it has been over a decade since I had this cast as a resin mold.   I found the silicone molds while cleaning this week - and was amazed how well they all have held up.

(Of course the cleaning  of the Studio had first started because an even older mold had lost integrity  and  become a mass of  *uuuhgg*  white liquid goo inside the plaster casing; the consistency of oven melted cheese.  I had to throw away the shelf ! ) Is that an Irony ?

Yuck! Interesting though, I never thought about molds changing their substance over time. Makes sense considering room conditions like sun exposure, humidity and such.
