Uni is awesome.

Though, art wise it means that I mostly do sketches. I saw a post on tumblr telling people to use other female forms, not only the hourglass, and I wanted to try the apple form. Though, I think it looks more like pear?

Drawn without reference, because it was at a speech.

No, you got apple right. :) Pear is when the hips/upper leg area is wider than the upper body/shoulders (this is my shape). Apple is pretty straight in the waist -- or rounded when you've put on extra weight, like you've drawn here. Basically pears gather fat at the hips/butt, and apple's at the belly.

I think it would be great to see people draw women with different shapes! we hardly see chubby, or extremely muscular girls (and say what you will, but those are damn sexy!) or basically, we only see women with big boobs, flat chested characters are rare. keep it up! maybe I should join in on this also? tough I never draw realistic anatomy in the first place...

I was certain that I had replied to your comments! :-[ Thank you so much! I am happy to hear that I captured the body shape. Thank you for the extra info on the places where the they differ, afke. And I so agree with you Berit! I have taken up swimming, and there I see so many different body shapes in the shower/locker room. There is so many great shapes in the world, everyone beautiful.  :D

Of course you may join on this, it is not like I just got the idea, went to the international government and copyrighted the idea. :P And hey, a character doesn't have to be drawn realistic looking to have different bodyshapes, do they?

As someone with a family of 5 and all different body shapes per person, I think that this shape looks great. It reminds me of my mothers shape, oddly enough...
I think I should try this sometime. My male elves mostly have the same shapes but the females differentiate in both height and width. Have yet to exactly draw them all...

Nice idea for practice, Startear!
