Fangstag
by Startear
Hope no one minds me putting this up here. I've more or less decided that in the Timeless' area, there are what Cone calls Fangstags. She really likes them. Their fur, the taste of their meat, the size, and most of all, those teeth.
In our world, we call them Chinese water deer, or vampire deer if you will.

Oh, okay, I actually am familiar with these things. It's very interesting and fun when the more unusual animals are added to fandom holts and storylines; it really shows a more "global" population than just the same characters and flora/fauna in the same place. You've done a really great job with the face, but for future reference, it would really bring the typical features of the animal out a bit more if you narrowed the neck a bit, put more of a curve or arch in the back, and widened the hind quarters. They tend to have a very slender, graceful front end, a high arch in the center, and a big ol' butt.

I think it's good thing you gave this a try! Animals can be quite a challenge, but they're also so very much fun to draw! I do think I've seen the "real version" sometime. I watch a lot of NGC.

Amberfox: Yeah, I was a bit obnoxious when looking up references, I took it for granted that their back is like the doe. (Whom tend to be rather square, at least the ones that run around where I live.) But I do love these creatures! They are so interesting looking.
afke: National Geographic Channel is awesome. |

Haha, when I first saw one of these, I thought it was a fake, like a jackalope or some other stiched-together animal. I find these really fascinating! Nice interpretation. Like the warm grey colors, too.
