First Encounters > C 1999 Autumn Twins
by Tah-Marien
CHANGESTONE and Cubs. This is the first appearance for these twins at the age of 4yrs old.
If I remember correctly we are about to meet a new Elf Tribe. And They rode Ton-tons ! (Well a dinosaur version for the WoTM) Which is the "more" that QUICKTREAD is referring to. SweetWater Wolves were very long lived and had 'image' Sending abilities that ranged in Power by how much Elf-blood they had.
One of my first attempts to draw a comic page. Hope I have improved !

I hope this is practice for this year's calendar.
I think it's easy to follow and has nice, clear lines. That wolf is huge, though! |

All my past is practice I guess. Looking at these very old pieces all layed out together I see how dirty lead pencil was.
I am trying for the calendar though. I just got the Storyboards from the writer/script/story person, and the layouts from the color/letters person. We jamed all Labor Holiday weekend and It was Fun and exhausting. I didn't realize how much I missed the atmosphere of a group mind. My stomach, however, didn't miss the Mountain Dew ! burp - belch |

I remember seeing this illo online somewhere else, perhaps Deviantart or I just googled Elfquest art and this was one of the many images that came up. Anyway, I love the pencilwork here and the overall images(s). Love the kids squirming, so typical of kids; reminds me of that typical car ride ("are we there yet?!"). Changestone is obviously more concerned about what Quicktread has sensed rather than her cub (Swing?) nearly standing on her leg. Very engaging comic and I would love to see more of it. The wolf IS huge to fit everybody so comfortably, but the illo at the bottom has the head too small for the body. Quicktread almost looks like a fox more than a wolf. While your work is consistent and readily recognizable, it has also improved remarkably.

Hey - La @ TREEFOX That wolf Is really huge ! Wow. I know I am doing wolves better now; just because I have drawn so may in the last month. I still think that they are all starting to look like my new Plott hound mix. 85lbs of Love and smiles. (The smiles sorta freak people out, it's the weird teeth I think. And the fact that dogs are not suppose to smile.)
@ AMBERFOX This picture has been up on Deviant Art for a long time its true. Pictured here (twins) are DRAW and FARSIGHT. ( Cub names Otter and Mouse) I am preggers with the last triplets. Last for Game and last for my Character. Just consider her in elf menopause ! (Hey if Clearbrook can do it so can I !) @ Thanx STARTEAR ! It sure helped us keep track of just who/what was talking. That and all wolf names in a story had their names All in caps. Made it easier to know between elf and wolf. It would be fun to do a story only about Wolves. It would be a way different perspective ! |
