Cade got jealous of the happiness between Terra and Marut, and if he can't have it, no one can! the fight is not going well for Terra, even if Cade is showered by arrows and stabbed countless times, like a bear, he isn't going down!...

Well, it seems many people like to create their own elven tribes that are like wolfriders, but in them Tinmain had a child with some other animal instead of a wolf. but most people choose beautiful animals. I happened to think "why no a bear?" and thus, Cade was born!... I'm not sure about everything regarding their history yet, but I think I'll write it down soon!...

I agree, Berit, it's a cool idea.  I've had on my "art ideas" list for a long time the idea of doing some elves that are mixed with different animals -- and bears are one that I've wanted to explore, since, like you, I've thought they'd be rougher-looking and bigger-built than the wolfriders.  And it's really interesting to think about what bear "psychology" would mean to a bear-elf; they're not social animals, like wolves.  (Sea-lions are another I'd like to play with; so I was amused when someone else popped up this week with the same idea. :) )

Really great job on the emotion in this one, and the perspective that makes it scary by putting the viewer in Terra's position.

I love elf-hybrids. They are so fascinating, much because of their struggle between the songs, if they're single cross. So is the behavior of those who aren't, especially if the things they do are things which is frowned upon in elfin culture.

Sadly most of mine are of creatures I haven't particularly studied. Even though I've watched and heard the seals not far from our hut, I don't know their entire social structure. Same with Carneek, my elf/forest pig mix. (Reminds me, Nilla, can you put him up here please?)

Eregyrn: Thank you! heh, yeah, I've been thinking about bears and studying them a bit before I did this, and like you said, they are not social, Cade, for example, spends most of his time alone, and no one should dare to touch his food, for him, sharing is weird. thank you again for you wonderful comment!...

Startear: Thanks! and same here, I'm not fond on "normal" elves in general, but when they are mixed with animals, that makes them so much more interesting, I like to read about animals and often go to the woods to search for them, luckily, there is a wolf pack passing near my home every year, it's interesting to bump into them in the forest...

Damn, now I'm jealous. Always wanted to see real life wolves.

One thing which bugged me is that when many people make their own elf hybrids, they choose cats. Not unrealistic, most people know how cats interact. However, I found it unoriginal and still partly do.

If I was to choose another elf hybrid then I'd have to choose no-humps. My sister has taught horsemanship and though i'm not an expert I know the nature of the horse far better than forest pigs and seals. :)

well, cats are beautiful animals, and people mostly choose beautiful things, I'm fine by it, though! let people draw what makes them happy! horse-elf would be interesting, but I bet there are those already, because many find them beautiful as well... hmmmh... if I'd do another elf-hybrid, I'd probably choose a cat too, maybe a saber-tooth? but I wouldn't make it beautiful, I'd make it look like an wild beast with pronouncing huge fangs!... you klnow what would be neat! Zwoot-elf!...

Zwoot elves has my support. I'm just wondering about their nature, seeing that it is essential to how the elf interact. All we seemingly know is that they live in the desert, are strong, grass eaters, dull (so claimed) and live in packs.Oh and they have high endurance. But are they hunted by others than elves I wonder? They are after all terribly huge. I think you'd need at least five jackals or wolves to bring a grown one down. Maybe the saber cats hunt them? If they're in that area.

I'm most definitely going to try and make satyr-elf.
Just need to figure out who the mom should be.

(is going though Berit's pictures of Cade and he's getting rather scary. )

Yes, Satyr elf will be cool!

Mika is the child of an own invented first born and a seal. Carneek is made because of a passage in one of the anthologies. As for the other two, I don't know yet...
