Leetah - 20 years later

A couple of days ago I was going through my old stuff and found my very first EQ sketch. Leetah on the left was made around 1990-1991, when I was 8 years old or so. Leetah on the right is actually a fairly recent sketch that I did when I was trying to practice my elf drawing skills after a long pause (obviously based on the wonderful character sheet by Wendy). Since I had the sketch just lying there, I decided to color it and upload it here :) I think it turned out ok, but the funny thing is that I was probably much happier when I finished that very first drawing (strange how age makes me question my work so much ;D)...

This is awesome, damn, 20 years! ;D And I agree on the age thing.
Ooooh, and this younger Leetah I still like best, you've captured her fiery spirit perfectly.

How could I not love this! Still, for an 8 year old it's pretty good. I have to say that I just love the swinging full boobs! Yay!
The new one almost looks like Wendy herself had re-colored her old pic. It's gorgeous! She looks a little bit more perky than in the original. Very fitting for Leetah at that time. So cool how you turned that original blue, calming background into a fiery one. It does suit her spirit!
It's so brilliant that this challenge always gets continued. So much fun!

This challenge was so much fun, and I hope I'll see more art added to this album. It's really nice to see how EQ has affected our lives :)
At first, when I had finished this piece, I started my usual mantra "something wrong with the lips, her left ear, the jaw line is too wide, I didn't get the necklace right..." etc. Then I realized; this is probably the best Leetah I ever made (I still like it, even if it was done with my eyes firmly set on Wendy's original, cannot really applaud my own creativity here ;D), so I told my inner voice to shut up. We really need to appreciate ourselves more, even if it's much easier seeing the beauty in others' work :)

This made me think of something else! When I first discovered EQ I had only read a few comics from the library and they were some issues that were not after another so I didn't understand a thing. ;P But I did memorize this image of Leetah and I used to draw it with chalk on our driveway. And when the rain had flushed it away, I would renew it. ;D
This is really a picture from the old days, that brings back memories for us all I guess. ;)

Awww, hope it didn't rain too much ;) That's true devotion from a young fan!
I too had to settle for the library books (my mom got me my first EQ books about 5 years later, I guess she got tired of driving me to the library all the time), I remember they had issues 1, 4, 8, 10-16, so I never really got the full story. I don't think anyone but me ever read those books in my city, because the library had only one copy and I constantly kept it at home ;)

Whoa! what a change! heh! it's amazing to see how much artist can improve... I still haven't found my old EQ arts... and I must admit, the first drawing, it's pretty cool that you drew so well at the age of 8!... and the new is absolutely stunning too!...
