Moonshade Sketch

Ayoooha! My first sketch in 2011! I grabbed a piece of paper to do some notes for work, when I just started sketching Moonshade. This is actually a sketch for a pic that I had in mind for ages now. I wonder if I'll ever be able to draw the real thing. Drawing felt so good, I really didn't want to stop.  :D
There is much wrong with this. Please bear in mind that this was a super-fast sketch with ball pen and without any reference.
I hope this will be an omen that I'll be able to draw more this year.
Happy New Year everyone!

Oh, I really love the soft lines of this, and the shading.  Her expression is great, and the softness of the sketch really complements it.

Thank you! For me Moonshade is somehow easier to draw looking sad than happy.

Love this...did you really say this was done with ballpoint? The likeness is really good.  She actually looks like she has a hint of a smile within the sadness, which makes it especially interesting.

It is pure ballpoint! Sometimes I actually like drawing with it. It is a challenge, because you cannot really undo anything. The face and mouth/nose/eyes were really badly aligned. But I hid it all behind Moonshade's gorgeous locks.
I did not intend to hint at a smile, but it would actually fit the scene a lot.

She's so pretty! the fact that you didn't use a reference only makes this better! and you used a ballpoint pen? way to go! that takes skill!

Wow guys! I hadn't seen your comments! Thanks!
Haha, if only I had more time alone at work, maybe then I would do more sketches like this. ;)
I do like drawing with ballpoint pen somehow.. I even once made a couple of comic pages just with ballpoint pen.
Man, I really hope I will get to do the full-fledged color version of this sketch one day.

Love it, especially her expression. The color for the scetch is well chosen.
